Hi all,

I know it's been ages since you've heard from me, and technically I'm still on leave-of-absence from DFA while I complete my graduate degree, but I wanted to reach out to let you know about a strong chance we have tomorrow of getting a very special, ultra-qualified candidate elected to Hudson County's Board of Chosen Freeholders.

If you live in Hudson County's 5th District, which consists mainly of Hoboken and parts of Jersey City Heights, please go to the polls tomorrow and vote for Ines Garcia-Keim for Freeholder.  When I first moved to Hudson County in 2001, Ines was one of the very first people I met from the political scene here, and she was one of the key people who inspired me to get involved.  He has worked tirelessly for this community for decades, and there are truly few people out there as deserving of holding public office as she is.  She has honestly done 20 times more as a private citizen for the improvement of our community than many elected officials in this area have done in their entire careers.  I urge you to vote for her tomorrow and tell your friends.

If you can volunteer at all tomorrow, Ines' campaign would greatly appreciate the help, for anything from field work to challenging at the polls.  If you can help, please call 201-792-7097.

Here's the Jersey Journal's endorsement of Ines:

In District 5, The Jersey Journal supports Inés García Keim of Hoboken to replace Freeholder Maurice Fitzgibbons who chose not to run for re-election. Keim, a Barnard College graduate, is a Mile Square City civic activist who served on an amazing long list of organizations and panels. They range from being a founding member of People for Open Government to serving on the first domestic violence response team in Hudson County, as a volunteer for WomenRising and the Hoboken Police Department.

Her opponents, Frank Raia and Police Capt. Anthony Romano, are each supported, whether publicly or surreptitiously, by established political organizations. Romano is actually a second choice for candidate by the administration of Hoboken Mayor David Roberts. Both men could be considered representatives of the status quo and the theme here is for more independence.

Thanks for staying involved, and I promise to stay in contact more regularly and get back on board fully after I graduate next year!

Onward,

Jake Stuiver
