A poll released Wednesday shows Republican Tim Walberg leading Democrat
Sharon Renier by a 43 to 35 percent margin, despite the fact that only 23
percent of voters recognize Renier's name.

Richard Czuba, president of the firm that conducted the poll, said the seat
is "up for grabs" based on Walberg's 8 percent lead, as national issues
erode support for Republicans.

"(Walberg) should be polling 50 percent right now given the make up of that
seat," Czuba said.

The 600-person poll -- a noncommissioned study of likely voters in the 7th
Congressional District by the Chicago-based Glengariff Group Inc. -- found 57
percent of voters recognized Walberg, and his lead placed him outside a 4
percent margin of error
