Candidate Richard Renner,
Congratulations on your endorsements and thank you for running for political office.
Much success to you!
Looks spectacular.
Lots to learn here but ir looks a little like a basic Word Perfect.

It is deeply detrimental to the longterm interests of democracy when Democrats praise and support FOX News. This would be true regardless of who that Democrat is, but it's particularly heinous when Terry McAuliffe, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is singing their praises.
"Let me congratulate FOX," McAuliffe said this past week, "because you were the first ones to call [the Pennsylvania primary] for Hillary Clinton." McAuliffe, who is also chairing Clinton's Presidential committee, actually echoed the FOX mantra by calling them "fair and balanced." What is so dangerous about McAuliffe's praise is that FOX is now using his words as a TV ad to prove just how fair and balanced they are. The rest of us know the truth:

Danny, well done. Love it!!!!!
Nice new look, it will be good to get instructions and see the polishing.
Richard ~ Best wishes to you for a successful campaign.

When we think of Paul Robeson, those of us who know his work hear that bass voice professing a melody like no other voice bass ever recorded. His voice on “Ol' Man River” is the undercurrent of that mighty river pulling the silt across its bottom and leaving the oppressed working people along its shores behind. His version of “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” provides a new depth to the meaning of forlorn. These songs, barely political, speak to us of the despair that has been the historical situation of the African-American since the first one was sold to the European slaver and packed into the hold of a slaving ship. They also resonate with a hope that the more fortunate often find difficult to comprehend.
Freedom Archives of San Francisco, California, recently released a CD of oratory from Robeson titled Words Like Freedom.
Although there is no music on this cd, the orations are like music to this ear. The depth of passion one hears on Robeson's musical recordings is equaled in these excerpts. The people that put together this CD hope to see it enter libraries and classrooms so that it can serve not only as the study of a great man who never wavered from his principles despite the temptations of wealth and the threats of his government, but also as an inspiration to those who listen to it. Words Like Freedom is historical proof that artists and performers can be successful in the capitalist culture of the US without selling their heart or their soul.
Huron -- Mr. Robeson was amazing for all the reasons but must say there IS another bass in the world and recording today -- lots of him on youtube and snippets on Amazon if you want to get a taste. I'm speaking of course of Rene bestillmyheart Pape :~) Rene Pape is also the product of an uncertain world, having been born into the former E. Germany, then seeing the wall come down while in his twenties, and living through reunification and all that meant to the individual.

Without the Democratic Party's support, Bush's war policies could never have been implemented. The Democrats voted in Congress a resolution that included the phrase, "unequivocal support for George Bush's conduct of the war in Iraq."
They have voted for all the funding requests for the war in Iraq. In 2005 at the State of Union address, the entire Congress, with few if any exceptions, gave George Bush 39 standing ovations in one hour. They rose to their feet and applauded every time Bush used the word Iraq even before he finished his sentence.
Earlier, 100 percent of Senate Democrats voted to confirm the right-winger Antonin Scalia for the Supreme Court.
In 2004 the Democrats ran John Kerry for President -- the same John Kerry who said he could implement Bush's war policies better than Bush especially in increasing militarization in America and promoting the war in Iraq.
What confuses so many progressively inclined people is they do not really understand that our society is controlled by the corporate power of concentrated money.
The corporations and the super rich -- through their domination of the government, the media, and educational institutions and of course the two parties -- run our society.
Hi, I'm now on the linux box and it didn't want to let me post a new comment, but this reply function seems to work. I'm doing this in Opera. the firefox browser on the linux box let me login, but wouldn't let me have the blog, though it did show me all my old posts.
What version of firefox are you using? And what did it give you if it did let you have the blog.. ;)
on the MAC it's firefox 2.0.0.3
it won't let me login
on the linux box it let me login but the blog button wasn't active and I couldn't get the current post
oh-oh, it seems that the wrap is funny in opera again. I'll see when i post
So, it seems the line just went long. toggle guidelines is active. Anyway, when I hit reply this time, it sent me to the top and i had to scroll down but the box was here.
I suppose I should turn images on so I can see the tools, but they're there.
OK, a hard return to make a new paragraph cancels the wrap.
OK I went out and came back in and it's letting me post -- Guess I'm not supposed to 'reply' to main post -- also I'm now in the old 'text' mode (which always worked for Safari) but w/o the bells and whistles.
Anni, only hit "reply" if you are replying to a specific comment. Looks like BFA is including nested commenting.
If making a general comment, just fill in your remarks and click Submit comment.
Tim - sometimes it puts me in in old 'text' mode which works great, but when it brings me in under the cute stuff that looks like a word processing toolbar, it won't let me post in the body. I work in mac/safari and the old version wouldn't let me do it either -- it's just that it seems to be whimsical as to whether it defaults to 'text' or 'toolbar' and when I click on 'dashboard' it says I'm inactive. Not to cause you problems b/c I love it -- but figure you want the feedback.
If you want to make certain I see any feed back use the contact form
Yeah, this text editor has been giving me issues. It was a last minute replacement for one that was a bit better but was waay to slow in loading. One bug I had to leave in for now is if you hit reply more then once, you lose the wysiwyg editor. That will be fixed first thing this week. The editor can be turned off for good via the user settings.. Go to your "Dashboard/My DFA" and under your picture is an edit link.
These settings should have transfered over from the old blog.
Annilow -
When I click your name or your picture icon, I get this:

HQ Loading....please wait
The page you were looking for doesn't exist.
You may have mistyped the address or the page may have moved.
- more bug report? when I use the subject line, it wont let me go to the body
By Monica Smith on Apr 26, 2008 4:51 PMOK, on the reply, it lets me put comment in body. Which is what I'm doing now. I am not sure if this has something to do with the paragraph pull down.
One other thing, I have to turn on images in Opera to see the menu line (blog, contribute, issues, etc)
What do I think of the new blog format ?
Well, it seems ok but is a tad too much, in that it clearly is an attempt by Danny et all to say ...
http://www.pumpkinglow.com/JballGD/images/BlowAway.jpg
Safari Users: Safari was developed for the Macintosh computer---the MAC Operating System.
It’s all about numbers
Obviously, businesses like to please their customers, but they also must follow business models which are profitable. Right now, browsers statistics indicate that over 85% of the population uses a PC of some sort. Only about 4% of the population uses a Macintosh. And as much as those that have owned a Macintosh try to convince others what they’re missing out on, the truth is - it’s just easier and cheaper to own a PC.
HQ should not spend a plug nickel trying to adapt this platform for Safari. It simply makes no business sense. Download free Firefox and blog with that. Not trying to be rude but a 4% problem isn't worth the effort, economically. HQ has provided a new, perfectly functional solution.
It's not perfectly functional for me but I do like it and as long as I can blog I will do so -- I never complained on the old one b/c I couldn't do links and pictures. Just trying to get one or the other to work and I can't get to my 'dashboard' to set it for 'text' -- sorry if you think this is unreasonable cC. And yes, you couldn't PAY ME to go back to a PC based machine
Test post.
lkfjlsdfja;fj;fjfj;fl;kf test body.
The first time i tried it with opera, it crashed the browser. Now, however, I'm in and the comment box works. I have no images on now. Back on the linux box, in firefox, although I was able to login, the blogbutton didn't work, neither did the about us--the others did.
Firefox on the MAC still wouldn't accept login. It sends me back to the front page.
Thanks to all who made it happen!
- The body box of a new comment doesn't work for me in opera on the MAC
By Monica Smith on Apr 26, 2008 5:25 PMThis blog software was likely developed for the Microsoft Operating System....not Linux, not Mac OS. Most likely anyone attempting to use it on another OS will not be able to utilize the richer text features, etc. Again, a sensible business decision on the part of HQ.
- Annilow, just hit end to get to end of page, or on MAC laptop do fn+end
By Monica Smith on Apr 26, 2008 5:28 PMAgain, the comment box at the bottom of the page didn't work. however, in the reply box I was able to forward an image from our DFAlink file. So, that works good in opera on the MAC

Am having the same issue with sometimes getting a plaintest comment box.
DFALink messages only shows received, no apparent way to access sent messages.
Anni - try setting 'show' to a minus number at the top of the comments - it may help
Love having the timestamp back - thanks!

That was weird. I went to reply and it gave me the sorry message and then when i hit back, it brought up the box without any tools.
Anyway, thankful, i checked my home page in DFA link, accessed a message that was there, deleted that and then found messages I had sent. Just a little more tweaking, I guess.
"Tim-when you submit it goes to the top and you have to scroll down to the bottom-hard for long thread."======
Anni, click the "end" button on your puter when you log into the blog...that will place you at the bottom of the thread.
The old blog took you to the bottom of the thread automatically -- I'm not complaining about stuff cC I'm testing. I know how to max to the bottom just trying to save the keystroke.
"Love having the timestamp back - thanks!"====
Yay!! At least it doesn't look like a conversation in a nut ward;)
Republican Senator John McCain, campaigning through poverty-stricken cities and towns, says he opposes a Senate bill that seeks equal pay for women because it would lead to more lawsuits. Senate Republicans killed the bill last night on a 56-42 vote that denied the measure the 60 votes needed to advance it to full debate and a vote. McCain skipped the vote to campaign in New Orleans.
"We hope everyone enjoys the new website.
If you want to leave us a comment on it, or submit a bug report, simply fill out the form on the Contact Page"
^This comment is on the My DFA page. Anni, I don't think you're being unreasonable. I think it economically infeasible to build a blog that satisfies all operating systems/platforms.
Just want to see w/not the new DFA was up and running; say hello to the blog; and thank staff for their effort to date.
~test~
BBL
Interesting Monica about getting sent messages by deleting - that's a fix-it tweak I look forward to ;-)
As for getting to the bottom of the page, when refreshing the screen I go to the bottom, but land back at the top after posting.
tweaks ~ all in good time...
Mom's recovery going well, dad gets more news Monday. Catch ya later...

- Re:NPR just said Obama turned down Clinton for a Lincoln-Douglas style debate
By Sitka on Apr 26, 2008 6:07 PMWithout details we can't form any conclusions as to the real veracity of this story.
But everyone knows (or should) that Hillary just wants a platform to hurl mud at Obama, because tearing him down is her only desperate hope to keep the Clinton Cabal in control of the Democratic Party. We've had enough "gotcha" debates and trash politics.
Really wanting to clarify. Knowing a little bit about software development I know it wasn't easy getting this new blog up and running. Yes, there are a few bugs, but all in all really well done on their part on what was likely a shoestring budget.
A suggestion: We should come up with a list of bugs/issues and get a consistent list of labels/titles/subject headers to send to hq. This will make it easier for them to organize/prioritize, etc. I made a change and had a hard time getting back in. I think there may be a bug associated with clicking "remember my info" on the login password.
A beautiful day here in the great Golden State, btw:)
- Clintons' "Lincoln-Douglas" Debates Not So "Lincoln-Douglas"-Like
By Sitka on Apr 26, 2008 6:25 PM....these "Lincoln-Douglas Style Debates", as the Clinton campaign calls them, would not diverge so much from the modern trend of sound-bite driven campaigning or hew closely to the true nature of the Lincoln-Douglas debates. No, instead of allowing each candidate to speak in a measured, thoughtful and clear manner, laying out his or her case and responding to the other candidate's case, the debates proposed by the Clinton campaign would just be more in a series of made-for-television, "Crossfire"-like quasi-debates that show less about the quality of a candidate's thoughts and beliefs than they do about the candidate's ability to come up with a biting sound-bite or a funny joke.
"But everyone knows (or should) that Hillary just wants a platform to hurl mud at Obama, because tearing him down is her only desperate hope to keep the Clinton Cabal in control of the Democratic Party. We've had enough "gotcha" debates and trash politics."========
Challenging your opponent to a Lincoln-Douglas debate is good politics/strategy. I'm not so sure that he should refuse that one regardless of her style or motives. Sitka the exit polls and general polls are telling us loud and clear that most Americans deplore trash politics.
He should debate her. If she trash talks during the debate he'd win points for calling her on it. He should debate her and demand that they address the issues most pressing for a majority of Americans...and it ain't Rev. Wright, Monica Lewinsky or any other bs.
I believe he'd win that debate in a big way. He said, in the last debate, that HC learned the wrong lesson from the trash-talking that's been done about her from Repubs for over a decade. It's a powerful point and he could pound on it if she tried that.
Barack needs to discuss the issues more and talk less about hope at this stage of the game. jmo.
