CHALLENGE: ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT to raise $380! Help the only Democratic County Commissioner in Missaukee County (Michigan).

On Tuesday, November 4th, history was made in Missaukee County. I was fortunate enough to defeat a Republican incumbent for County Commissioner in the second most Republican county in the state of Michigan. However, as with many campaigns, I have debt to pay off, and several final expenses to pay. I need to raise $380 in 3 days. Can I count on you? Making a contribution is easier than ever. Just click on the link below, and make a secure, online contribution using PayPal...

OFFICIALLY ENDORSED BY MID-MICHIGAN DEMOCRACY FOR AMERICA (MMDfA)!

“Richard REALLY knows his stuff and has specific plans for improving his county.”

As I was quoted in our local daily, the Cadillac News, following my victory...

"The voters...have made a determination that the status quo is no longer acceptable, that we expect more accountability, greater openness, and transparency in county government."

Please, help me pay off my debt by raising $380 in 3 days. Just click on the link below, and make a secure, online contribution using PayPal...

Victory '10,

Richard Renner

Missaukee County Commissioner-elect

Come to USD and Help the Campus Dems!

Written by: Andrew Davey on Oct 6, 2006 4:59 PM EDT

Hello, again. You might know me from DFA, or you might remember me from the Busby Campaign, or you already know me as the Santa Ana Precinct Volunteer, or you might not have met me yet! But anyways since I also attend the University of San Diego, I am a member of the USD Young Democrats. Last night, we discussed our plans for an amazing all-star event that we are putting together for next month, and I'd like to share this with you.

On November 4th, we will be hosting a fun and exciting dinner. We have already booked Representatives Susan Davis and Bob Filner, as well as Congressional Candidates Francine Busby and John Rinaldi. One of the deejays from the local Air America station will be there, along with other local leaders. However, the most important highlight of the evening will be the money that we raise for the Democrats' Fifty-State Strategy.

Now we all saw what happened this year with Francine Busby in the 50th District. No one would have ever imagined that this seat would EVER be competitive, but thanks to the local grassroots taking advantage of the Cunningham mess, the unimaginable happened. Now I know that by nurturing that grassroots movement, and building upon what we did early this year, we can eventually turn this seat blue. Perhaps you also heard the great news about the new Lake Research poll that has Steve Young within striking distance of Campbell in the 48th. Maybe you've also noticed Jim Brandt's amazingly solid campaign to take down that scandalicious Rohrabacher in the 46th. Fortunately, we are investing in a new precinct captains system that will place a strong Democratic presence in every neighborhood... Including here, in Orange County! This is how we will begin winning nationwide, and this is why our club would like to support this great new tool.

I'm writing because this is an urgent matter for our club on campus. This is the the first major event that we've done since the 2004 election. Unfortunately, we are still short on funds for this event. We also need people to come, and join us in support of the Fifty-State Strategy. Please let your family and friends know about this great opportunity to meet our candidates and support our party. Also if you'd like to help by volunteering, or donating money, please let us know. And most importantly, please come! Tickets will most likely be in the $50-$75 range, and (again) we will be giving to a great cause. We are quite excited about this, yet we know that we would not be where we are today without the support of our fellow Southern California Democrats.

Thank you for your support, and we certainly hope to see you on the 4th.

THE DEMOCRATS HAVE THEIR OWN TOM DELAY

Written by: Howie Klein on Feb 3, 2006 11:45 PM EST

Linked to groups: Southern California for Democracy

About a week or so ago I was at an L.A. meeting with Jim Dean and some other folks and at one (kind of dramatic) moment Jim told us he had had a call on his cell phone and found out that Bob Casey has endorsed Alito. Everyone was horrified. I've been particularly interested in the PA Senate race, not just because Rick Santorum is one of the worst of this terrible lot of Republicans, but because I had a home in PA until a few weeks ago and still have ties and property there. I knew Casey is a reactionary on social issues and supposedly "ok" on economic issues. The "conventional wisdom" is that he had the primary race sewn up and he's the only Democrat who could beat Santorum.

Further investigation taught me something I actually learned long ago: conventional wisdom is as wrong as often as it is right. I also learned about Chuck Pennacchio's very vibrant campaign, that the latest polls actually show him STRONGER than Casey against Santorum and that he and the DSCC have manufactured this false aura of inevitability around his campaign. Why would they do that, I wondered, somewhat naively.

I'm less naive now and what I've discovered about the DSCC and, much, much worse, about the DCCC, has turned my stomach. I've done a series of articles about what I discovered at my blog-- Link and I urge everyone in the Southern California DFA to read it. Rahm Emanuel has been systematically using all the power and resources of his office as DCCC Chair to undermine and root out all grassroots activists, all progressives and, especially, all anti-war Dems who want to run against vulnerable Republican incumbents. In some cases he has gone so far as to recruit actual Republicans, get them to change their party registration and try to then pressure the real Democrats to get out of the race for the "sake of the party." Look at the websites of the DCCC-recruited candidates. They never talk about issues in terms of specifics-- they are for the middle class and support the troops and are against Republican corruption. That's a platform? Go to the website of any real Democrat and they tell you exactly why they're running and how they feel about the important issues of the day.

Meanwhile there are several vulnerable southern California Republicans without effective opposition. Any chance we can all get together to talk about how to deal with this?
