Regarding opening environmentally protected areas for mining and pumping oil:

There is over 200 years of oil in the 48 contiguous States that are capped up by oil companies to monopolize world energy. There is no need to violate our environmentally protected areas, just to allow oil companies to further monopolize their strangle hold over our lives.

They are creating a media frenzy just to increase the price of oil; very successfully I might add. However, there is no immediate threat for an oil shortage !!! The oil companies have ONLY created the perception that there is a shortage !!!!

I personally believe that ALL mineral rights belong to the American People, NOT souless corporations!!!

I applaud Venezuela for nationalizing the oil assets in their country!!!!

We should be doing the same thing here in the United States !!!!

Replacing Elected Obama Delegates Would Be A Betrayal of Loyal Supporters!

On Saturday, Allan Katz of Obama for America insisted on the campaign's right to replace Florida's elected Obama delegates at the convention. The Obama delegates in Florida are committed activists who have made personal, professional, and financial sacrifices over the last seventeen months to support Senator Obama, and then they were elected by the voters in their Congressional Districts. Replacing them with some latecomers who happen to have more money would be a betrayal of us long-time supporters of the Senator, and a betrayal of everything we thought the Senator stood for.

 I urge Senator Obama not to allow his campaign staffers to replace elected Obama delegates, and to state so publicly. I urge him to do so today. It would be the gravest possible mistake to so egregiously abandon his loyal supporters at such a critical point in a swing state.

I urge all of you to pass this message on to the campaign. Call 866-675-2008 to voice your opposition to replacing our elected Obama delegates with wealthy contributors.

These screenings present a rare opportunity to see Clint Curtis and his testimony during a hearing held by members of the U.S. Congress in the context of a larger perspective than is usually provided. Footage from that hearing and a first person interview with Clint are important dimensions of Fadiman's film. Other interviewees in STEALING AMERICA include poll workers, computer experts, journalists, politicians, voters of all ages and others concerned about reports that certain communities may have been targeted for intimidation. The film introduces a spectrum of issues, including discrepancies between exit polls and final official tallies, the silence of the media following the election and the impact of technological glitches - for example more votes than voters, and vote flipping from one candidate to another. The film documents stories such as those of inner city voters who experienced waiting hours in line, along with the apparent unequal distribution of voting machines. A key piece in the story is Clint's experience in being asked to "rig the vote". Throughout, we underscore that election reform is not a partisan issue. It is the responsibility of both Democrats and Republicans to work with each other to address these issues. Various solutions to real problems are integrated into the film.
Our goal is to be provocative, but not confrontational. We want to engage viewers who may be uncomfortable addressing the realities of the election system. Our goal is to open people's minds to the irregularities in the technology and open their hearts to the devastating impact of disenfranchising voters. The final question that the film poses is: How can we create an election system in which voters have confidence, and in which they can trust that their vote is being counted fairly?

This month's meeting is being changed. We are joining our meeting to that of the Southeast Volusia Democratic Club, where we will be undergoing pollwatcher training. This training is vital to allow us to assist in preserving the integrity of the electoral process. We hope that you can join us.
