Grassroots change starts at the bottom. We need ot be informed voters and make sure the candidates we're voting into local office (the offices that affect us most directly) share the progressive values we champion.

When you get to the voting booth on November 4, will you know which State Representatives, School Board Members, State Auditors, Dog-catchers shere your values. Will you even know their names?

Growvotes.org is trying to close this gap in voter ignorance through the same social networking tactics that have helped communities like DFA. Come check us out, find out who's running in your local elections and help us build a community based around the local politics that get things done close to home. Write an inactive candidate and ask them to share their views with the community. Create a ballot for election day so you know beforehand who'll you'll vote for.

We're focusing our beta efforts on New Jersey and Maryland and are looking for local associates who can help us add candidates that are not lsited yet. Espcially those at the city and county level. For more information contact us:

This comes to you on behalf of a broad national coalition of people and impeach groups.

We need your help!!!!

We aim to publish 5 large ads in the Washington Post on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday — September 8, 10, 11, 12 — and a half-page ad on Sunday, September 14th.

Attached below are 2 large ads for weekday publication, and one half-page ad for Sunday publication.

This is part of a national campaign we're calling  "COUNTDOWN TO IMPEACHMENT!"

Nobody needs to tell you the magnitude of the threat Bush-Cheney present.

 Do not make the mistake of thinking that George W. Bush is a lame duck. He is going full speed ahead with his agenda, unhampered by anything so trivial as worrying about reelection.  The following is a  list of what Bush has done in the past couple of weeks!

Gutted environmental protection by taking EPA scientists out of the loop.

Pushed for offshore oil drilling

Made it easier for the FBI to investigate without a warrant.

Proposed making oral contraceptives harder to obtain. (& classifying them as abortion!)

Gotten obviously drunk at the China Olympics, embarrassing the US and insulting the Chinese.

Started a proxy war with Russia via the US client nation of Georgia

Signed an agreement to place missile defense in Poland, evoking a Russian threat against Poland.

Canceled joint military exercises with Russia, essentially restarting the Cold War with the second nuclear superpower.

• Sent a huge armada to blockade Iran, which could start WW III.

We believe our ads will help bring enough pressure to move the House Judiciary Committee to begin impeachment proceeding in earnest — before they attack Iran — and  with  the help of thousands of citizens phoning the committee members, we can get movement by September 26th.

The weekday ads will measure 12" wide x 18" high, and the Sunday ad will measure 12" wide x 10.5" high.

The stakes are steep for everyone on earth.

We ask you for two actions. The first is to donate as much as you can to help our ads publish.

The second is to get your help in spreading the word to help us get the money, both to your circle of friends and to every web site you can. If you can hook us up with any media, we'll get someone nearby to contact them.

If you operate a web site or an organization we ask you to endorse our effort and to tell everyone on your email list about our campaign. If you can't endorse because of a policy against that level of action, then at least forward this to your members so they can help us.

A message to progressives on taking back our country

Dear Fellow Progressives,

I spoke briefly to a wonderful group of people in Camden on Saturday that gathered with others from the Peace and Justice movements. I made an appeal that I'd like to share with you as well. Like many of you, I understand the concept of "There is no way to peace, peace is the way." But, I have come to the conclusion that Justice plays a big part in breaking the cycle of waging war and the disparity between the rich and the poor.

As the comparisons to the Nixon and Bush administrations continue to be drawn with most concluding that Nixon's crimes pale in comparison to those of President Bush, I can't help but wonder if Justice had been served over 30 years ago, if Nixon had not been pardoned, that perhaps the door would not have been wide open for someone to step in for another power grab.

We are already in full swing with the 2008 Presidential campaign. As I watch the debates wage on, I sit frustrated that most of them seem quite unconcerned with the imbalance of power among the branches of government, with the fact that one President could change the face of our country in such a dramatic and destructive way.

Could it be that they hope as well to be able to take advantage of some of that power grab that Bush has accomplished? Do you really want to wait and find out?It is our duty now to restore and preserve the foundation of our country.

There really is only one way to ensure that and that's through Justice. We can't wait for Congress to fix these problems through little bits and pieces of stagnant legislation that even if passed will only be met with a signing statement from the President.

Why hasn't habeas corpus been fully restored, why haven't we taken back the President's ability to define torture, why did we allow a President to get away with warrantless wiretapping that was made a felony in response to Nixon's actions, why does the President continue to get away with his signing statements in which he declares the power of the presidency to be supreme?

These issues and many more require the swift hand of Justice and it's up to the American people to deliver it with a call for impeachment. 

It seems like an eternity ago that some of us under the leadership of Joanne and Tim O'Neill met in a clandestine way in the back room of a Bob Evans (of all places) to discuss impeachment. While a few of us continue to devote all of our free time and then some on making this happen, the interest of others seems to have waned which brings me to the question: For the sake of our country, will you join with us in a people's movement for impeachment?

Great progress has been made throughout the country since we first had that meeting, progress of a historical level: 14 state democratic parties have voted for impeachment, over 80 towns and cities have passed impeachment resolutions, and 11 state legislatures have introduced resolutions to impeach (passed in the Vermont senate). New Jersey is positioned to introduce a resolution to the state legislature. We are a progressive state with strong, influential and politically minded citizens. But, all it really takes are some citizens that care enough to act.

 Like any great social change, it is a process and we need people who are committed to take positive, active steps towards making this a reality. It does not, however, have to consume your life (as it has mine!). I would like to organize a meeting with those willing to participate to discuss the progress we have made and some objectives for the ensuing months.

Please reply to let me know if you are willing to join in that. There is a lot that can be done as well that doesn't require you leaving home, so please drop me a line to let me know if you want to get on board with this.

Congresswoman Diane Watson said, "Justice Deferred is Justice Denied." I say, while we have the right to remain silent - I don't recommend it! Join the call.
