torture

It broke my heart to read Sundays opinion page, all the support for torture and all its euphemisms. My country became a world power, not because of our military, but because of our treatment of people no matter where they came from. Many of our founders came here as indentured servants. The war of 1812 was fought because English sailors deserted to American ships for our fair treatment and ban on whipping. We fought the civil war to free slaves. Germany and Japan became staunch allies not because we won the war but because in defeat they were fairly treated. For well over two hundred years my country never had to mistreat or torture people.
I ask all true Americans to stand-up for fair treatment of all people. Don't let two hundred plus years of honor and integrity be lost to fear and lies. Please let the World and our elected Representatives know that real Americans do not torture or otherwise abuse people.
