About California for Democracy...

California for Democracy is an umbrella organization of local, regional and affinity groups and individuals who are aligned with the broad purposes of Democracy for America.

Our Immediate Objectives are to:

~Ensure the election of the Democratic party nominee in the 2008 Presidential election.

~Officially endorse certain California candidates for public office at the state and federal level, while also endorsing local California candidates who have already obtained an endorsement from their local California for Democracy group
Educate, motivate and inspire people in our movement by using a website, newsletter or other media outlets to share and publicize the activities and methods of all local and regional California for Democracy groups.

~Keep Democracy for America informed of what California for Democracy and its local and regional member groups are doing on a regular basis, as well as acting as a recipient of information from DFA.

~Recommend to the national Democracy for America organization that they endorse and/or support California candidates for office who obtain our official endorsement.

Our Longer-Term Objectives are to:

~Engage in state-wide fundraising activities to support local, state or federal California candidates for office whom we have endorsed, while also raising funds for lobbying campaigns in support of our endorsed positions on certain California-based issues or ballot measures.

~Collaborate with other California organizations which advocate for or against certain California-based issues or proposed ballot measures, while also making endorsements and initiating lobbying campaigns in support of our positions on those issues or ballot measures.

~Recruit and train progressive California candidates for public office at the state and federal level, while also offering our support to California candidates for local office who have already.
