I am a registered Democrat and an Obama supporter and contributor. I am also a strong supporter of Proposition 8. I find Senator Obama’s letter most regrettable.
While I support Proposition 8 on its merits, I agree with Fred that Senator Obama’s letter won’t play well with most of the country. If his “A” task is to get elected to stop the war and mend the economy, this is a needless distraction. Gay “marriage” arguably cost Senator Kerry the 2004 election.
I'm afraid you have it all wrong...and so does Obama. Passing Proposition 8 does not remove any rights that homosexuals have had in California. Because of domestic partnerships, all of the same rights attributed to marriages in California have been granted to homosexual partnerships for several years now. All that Prop 8 does is reiterate the wording of Proposition 22 that was passed in 2000 by 61% of California voters..."that marriage is only between a man and a woman". In February of 2008, one judge thought he had the right to overturn a California law passed by a large majority of Californians. Prop 8 will correct that oversight and put the definition of marriage into the California constitution, maintaining the will of the majority of California.
I'm not shocked about Obama and Prop 8 he only says what he believes the people of the United State wants to hear. IF he get in as our President watch for his true colors to shine.
I'm for Prop 8 I believe in the Marriage between Man and Woman. I believe that anyone who claims to be a Christen who also believes in the Bible would understand that no where in the Bible does it say anything about marriage of the same sex. It always states Husbands and Wifes, Not wifes and wifes, husbands and husbands.

but I doubt if you'll hear him ranting and raving about the benefits of "gay marriage" (literally, as such) on the campaign trail outside of a special interest audience like that. "Civil Unions" maybe, but not the "M" word.
And don't forget, kindness is free.
