A good starting point is Paul Waldman's book "Being Right Is Not Enough"

Paul Waldman took on the challenge of identifying the core progressive values in his book "Being Right Is Not Enough: What Progressives Must Learn From Conservative Success." He lists the five core progressive values as opportunity, security, individual freedom, progress, and a government that works for everyone.
