Description:
Brandeis DFA Campus Corps is an independent group which shares the goals and vision of Democracy for America. Democracy for America is the political action committee formed by Gov. Howard Dean after his presidential run. We, Brandeis DFA Campus Corps:
1. Support fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of office. While some groups only focus on major state-wide and federal campaigns, our goal is to reform politics from the ground up by building a progressive farm team of the future at all levels of government from the Student Union Senate to the Oval Office.
2. Recruit and train young people to become activists, campaign staffers, and even candidates themselves through the DFA training academy.
3. Work with other progressive-minded students on issue campaigns locally and nationally in support of progressive political change.
4. Run DFA Campus Corps: DFA Campus Corps is a program focused on local community service projects. We wear DFA gear while planning and participating in community service work that links with our progressive values. 80% of all college freshmen did community service in high school and only 5% of them have ever worked for a political candidate -- we need to bridge the gap between politics and community service.
5. Build a strong network of Brandeis students dedicated to fiscal responsibility and social progressivism. The group will meet at least twice a month to participate in and lead the above actions.
Brandeis Generation DFA is committed to returning this country to the people that make it great--one election, one campus, one precinct, one door, and one voter at a time. But, we can only take our country back by working together, from the ground up.
