Obama retains Gov Dean as Party Chair and the DNC renounces PAC money.

Bringing the change he has promised, Barack Obama has supported Gov Dean and the 50 State Strategy by asking him to stay on as head of the DNC. In keeping with Obama's stand on reducing lobbyist influence in Washington, the DNC will now no longer be accepting lobbyist and PAC money. This has some in the DLC wing of the Party wondering how the DNC will function. Lets show them!
As individuals lets all go to the DNC website and show some donation love for Gov Dean, the 50 State strategy and for real change in Washington DC:

UN refugee agency declares end of refugee status for Sierra Leoneans

GENEVA (AFP) - The UN refugee agency on Friday said it is ending refugee status for Sierra Leoneans who fled their country during the civil war because of changes in the African country.
"There have been fundamental and durable changes since peace was declared in January 2002.
"The cessation will take effect at the end of this year on December 31, 2008 following consultations with the governments of the main countries of asylum and Sierra Leone," said Jennifer Pagonis, spokeswoman of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
About 43,000 refugees from Sierra Leone are still living in exile, said the UNHCR, and Gambia, Guinea, Liberia and Nigeria are among the key host countries.
...Up to a third of the country's six million citizens were displaced during the height of the conflict. Many have since returned.
The UN Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) completed its withdrawal from the country in January 2006, and those responsible for atrocities committed during the conflict starting in 1991 have been indicted and tried, or at least are being tried.
After aggressive contests in all 50 states, the Democratic Primary has come to an end. If we are to elect Barack Obama president in November, as a community, it's important that we come together.

As a gay American, I couldn't be more proud to work for Barack Obama. I believe in my heart that he will be a great president with the best judgment to lead our nation. He is a friend and will fight for justice and equality, standing up for our individual rights.

What a relief, to have a nominee, and to know that Howard Dean will continue his excellent work as Chair. Emotions were so high, and there were so many connections back to the beginning of the movement in 2004, it's fantastic to feel like we really won something this week. We won a lot.

There has never been a more important election in my lifetime -- with a war waging, gas prices at record highs, our health care in crisis, and our nation's standing around the world severely diminished. I spent the last year traveling across the country talking to great Americans in Iowa, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Ohio, Texas, South Dakota, Indiana and many other places. They all agree on one thing: This country needs new leadership, and it's time for change.
Many of you in the Clark community answered the call. Some of you worked tirelessly for Senator Clinton while others poured hours into Senator Obama's campaign. You did this because you were willing to sacrifice your time and energy to bring the change we so desperately need. I can't thank you enough for all you have done.
Now I am asking you to come together and make sure Barack Obama is our next president. This is a critical mission.
Hillary Clinton ran an amazing race. She inspired millions. Our party is a better party because of her campaign, and our nation is a better nation because of her service. She is and will always be a friend whom I admire.
I congratulate Senator Barack Obama on securing the nomination. His historic campaign has touched lives and his message has moved people in every corner of America. I believe he is not only ready for the challenge but will be a great President.
It's time our party comes together to stand behind Senator Obama as we move forward in this election season. I look forward to doing everything I can to help Senator Obama's campaign. While I respect John McCain's service, I know exactly what he stands for -- Bush's third term. America is a great nation, and our people deserve more. We need Barack Obama to be our next president.
