- Mike Lux hopes that:

By Huron John on May 7, 2008 6:30 PM EDT

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-lux/moving-forward_b_100645.html

1. That the Obama campaign team really have a new focus on putting together their general election team and strategy quickly. One of the things that really killed us in the 2004 election was that the Kerry campaign was so painfully slow to put together their general election staff, operation, and overall strategy. Weeks literally dragged into months without major decisions being made, and all the while Bush was moving into full attack mode. It was incredibly harmful.

The Obama folks need to be very focused on gearing up their operation now. If the primary team needs vacations, fine, put people you trust into planning mode. With our long-drawn primary, this needs to happen now.

2. That the Clinton people need to get used to the fact that Obama is the nominee. All the hyperbolic "he can never win the general" and the "it's not fair" stuff needs to stop right now unless you want a 100-years-in-Iraq, pro-life, pro-Roberts/Alito Supreme Court, 22% lifetime LCV rating, economic right-winger as president. To spend any time or energy at all nursing your resentments is the most fundamentally selfish thing you can do right now. I hate losing elections, I know how badly you feel, and how hard it is, but there is too much at stake to be selfish right now.

3. That all the avid Obama people who have been so obsessed with beating Hillary pat yourself on the back, and then get the hell over it. You've won the first round, get ready for round 2 because just winning the primary doesn't count for anything in the end. Gloating feels great, but it doesn't help Obama in any way, so put off gloating until he's actually won the real election. Keep giving to Obama, but help the DNC and VoteVets and other groups that are working on beating McCain, too. And be a big person, and reach a hand of friendship to all the Hillary people who you have been saying mean things to for a year now. We need them.

They are probably doing this. I just hope the same fantastic team will be running the general election, which is almost six months away.

http://www.americablog.com/2008/05/mccain-says-league-of-nations-needs-to.html

McCain says "League of Nations" needs to deal with Iran

Too bad the League of Nations was disbanded in 1946 when John McCain was ten years old. Oh, and one of our commenters added this:

Reminds me of Mr. Burns at the Post Office:

"Yes, I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"

I guess we regularly elect candidates who lie to us, then get angry when they lie to us. Perhaps it is just the American way. I am concerned about McCain, who is running again to be our president, mostly because he seems mentally incompetent—unable to remember important things. I am a veteran of WWII, and suffer periodic bouts of Old Timers Syndrome (I can't remember the real name for this problem). But, I don't intend to become our chief executive officer either. Over five times recently, McCain has been unable, without prompting, to understand the difference between Shiite and Sunni muslims when talking about Iraq/Iran on his last trip to Middle East. For us common folks, that may be acceptable, but for our would-be president, it is not. It is critical to understand the subtle differences way over there, if we wish to withdraw our forces in a reasonable time and in a safe way.

...

This one is up to us, the citizens. Be wary.

- Same old Hillary

By Sitka on May 7, 2008 7:23 PM EDT

I had naively hoped Hillary's operatives would follow her gracious behavior last night and today. But I just saw Wolfson on TV attacking Obama in the old fashion.

So the strategy is apparently for Hillary to be all soft and cute while her people gnaw on the ends of the old plots to damage Obama.

Oh well. That strategy is what got her beaten so far, and so it will continue. Hillary and her operatives are incapable of learning, growing, and accepting accomplished fact. And voters have dealt with it as they should -- by rejecting her.

- Greetings To All Democrats -

By Matthew M on May 7, 2008 8:39 PM EDT

My name is Matthew MacGregor and I live in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I am 41 years old, single, white collar and I have voted Republican since I was first able to vote...as well as my family.

Just wanted to let Howard Dean and other Democrats know, that if Hillary Clinton was to be the Democratic Nominee, she would get our vote!

There are a lot of Republicans who don't agree on what has been the 'Bush Agenda', and my family is just one of many I am sure.

After numerous round table discussions over Obama, Clinton & McCain, with my family and other Republicans that are friends and acquaintances - I hope the Democratic Party might take the thoughts that a lot of Republicans ARE ready for a change, but Barack Obama will NOT get our votes!

For someone who will NOT put their hand over their heart, or say, the Pledge of Allegiance - to want to lead a country, that you are NOT proud of - the History of our country, that people of ALL RACES, CREEDS & COLORS have died to build and protect - how appalling! This and many other instances to people who should open their eyes - Obama is just like McCain - "Say Anything To Get It!"

Just Food For Thought!

Respectfully,

Matthew MacGregor

Is this a stupid Operation Chaos offensive?  Do you mean to tell us that that you are a life long Republican but will vote for Clinton this election, irrespective of ideology or policy, because you like showy, ostentatious, superficial shows of jingoistic patriotism over substance?

Hi Matthew - Your comment is appreciated, especially because it offers the opportunity to let you and your family know the urban legend about Obama refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance is totally false. Please check out allegations against candidates... one source is

- VOTE FOR CLINTON

By Matthew M on May 7, 2008 10:19 PM EDT

My IDEOLOGY or POLICY is that I look at what I believe is the best candidate. I think Hillary is a no-nonsense control freak that would really get some stuff moving in DC. :) She has my vote if she makes it, as well as a lot of Republicans I've talked with.

I grew up in VA Beach, had numerous Military friends...in the Military myself, as well as my parents. I knew people of all races, creeds and colors. I am not closeminded enough to be sold by the 'CHANGE' that Obama promises.

Things move slowly in DC unfortunately, no matter who the President is, and I feel that if most Americans quit bickering over Democratic and/or Republican ideologies and policies a whole lot more could get accomplished. We are the People. Divided we fall.

As far as the Obama thing, actions speak louder than words. Him saying the Pledge in the Senate is Protocal and Procedure. For his wife to stand up and say, "For the first time in my life, I am proud to be an American." Sad, sad, sad.

Clinton may have issues, but to me...less issues than Obama & McCain!

The Press & Higher Political Power Insiders want it to be McCain/Obama.

Actually, I liked Huckabee & Ron Paul also.

See Ya!

Respectfully,
Matthew

Thanks for the reply Matthew - sorry to hear you prefer a control freak to someone that is reasoned.  Also sorry to hear you dismiss Obama for the flag and pledge allegations and for comments taken out of context.

IMO one big issue Clinton has is she's a low-down liar.

LOL that you think the press and insiders want McCain/Obama ~ they've done everything in their power to help Clinton.

Regardless, I hope you decide to look at the facts about each candidate rather than react to hype and drama of emails and faux news reports.

Namaste'
