A little about me
Impassioned about a world in which the inherent worth and dignity of all is manifested in a just society.
I would describe myself as a
offline activitst
Why I deserve a Netroots Nation Scholarship
I deserve this scholarship because... I am dedicated to the progressive movement and in working with others to grow the movement in Louisiana, our nation and world. Netroots Nation is an awesome time of learning and coalition building.
What first inspired me to get involved
The 2008 general election: Obama's message of community empowerment.
How I've gotten others involved
I get others active in organizations that I lead: The Louisiana Movement and the Young Democrats. I also use social media to help disseminate information.
The blog post I am most proud of
MY FACEBOOK FEED. When becoming acquainted with people in person, I am frequently told, "Yes, I know you. I know your Facebook." Apparently, it's a good thing :) http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cogent-Concepts/107410589312510#!/littleorganizerthatcould
Why I think participation in the blogosphere is important
It is vital in getting past and reaching beyond non-traditional media.
More about my involvement with DFA and local work
I am currently working with others in the state to bring Democracy for America - Campaign Academy to Louisiana. woohoo!!! I have also attended DFA training in the past and am signed up as a DFA Organizer.
More about my volunteer work
I am founder of The Louisiana Movement, a grassroots coaliton of progressive activists, organizers, and organizations. We organize trainings, workshops, progressive networking events and movie viewings. Super excited about making it happen in Louisiana with other awesome "home grown" rock stars.
My Twitter manifesto on online activism
Online activism = Information dissemination and Calls to online and offline action = A DAMN good thing
My suggested bumper sticker slogan
Geaux Progressives!!!
My idea for a cool new online action
Honestly... no "wild idea." Tend to be more practical, yet humorously snarky.
