A little about me
I am an American Muslim passionate about politics, peace , and justice. Everything in my life revolves around working to help people whose voices have been silenced with the recent increase of tea partying all around the nation.
I would describe myself as a
offline activitst
Why I deserve a Netroots Nation Scholarship
Netroots Nation Scholarship can give me the amazing opportunity to get in contact with people who share my vision of making this world a better place.
The blogs I use most are
http://www.themonkeycage.org/
What first inspired me to get involved
On many occasions I have been racially discriminated against. Instead of being silenced, these personal attacks have empowered me to speak-out. I turned to social media as a driving force to speak out against injustice.
How I've gotten others involved
I always tell people "just because you don't like to write, doesn't mean you can't post"
Why I think participation in the blogosphere is important
The blogosphere is a place to hear and share new ideas that are not heard in mainstream media.
More about my volunteer work
I have volunteered for the Obama campaign. When the announcement was made on Novermber 2nd that Obama would be our 44th president, that day was an unimaginable feeling. I knew that hard work had payed off for many of us :-)
My Twitter manifesto on online activism
Today our societies are amazingly connected with just a click of a button. Online activism is a great way to speak out and make sure other voices are being heard other than conservative rhetoric.
My suggested bumper sticker slogan
Bumper sticker slogan: Your voice is your choice..VOTE!!!
