Name: CornSyrupAwareness
Location: Portola Valley, CA

My personal volunteering highlight:

I'm pretty new to activism. My first experience was going to see John Kerry speak in Feb '08 and then I spent some time on the streets with my Barack Obama sign during the primaries. I stood in the cold rain for 3-4 hours one day. I went to a No On Prop 8 rally in front of the Mormon church in Oakland, and our efforts made it on TV. I spent some time in the streets fighting Prop 8. I made a political video and am almost ready to release an animation that I've been working on for four years.

More about my volunteering with DFA:

I'm not, I only heard about D f A recently. I don't know where to put this but here's my youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/cabbey6
and my flickr page

More about my work on current campaigns and issues:

Last fall I volunteered a lot of my time to write articles and raise money for Alabama 3rd Congressional candidate Joshua Segall. I was (with all of your help) the top fundraiser for Josh in '08. I'm currently fundraising for Joshua Segall's 2010 campaign and I plan on volunteering and fundraising for Anthony Woods in CA-10.

What motivates me:

My health and my concerns about the present conditions of so many of our largest industries. I think the last thirty to forty years have put us into a really difficult spot. Turning this around is going to take a lot of work and I'm happy to do it.

How I try to motivate others:

Smiling, working hard, being honest, being loyal, caring.

Where I see myself in five years:

By that time I hope I will have been instrumental in getting a progressive voice elected. My other goal would be to get an article published in a good newspaper (before they collapse). Five years from now, I'd like to be able to support someone else's NN scholarship.

My suggested bumper sticker slogan for the Stand with Dr. Dean campaign:

If you don't stand with Dr. Dean you'll fall for insurance greed

Why I Deserve a Scholarship to Attend

You should vote for me to win a scholarship because I would vote for you. I don't want to take away a spot from a more needy entrant, but if there is a scholarship left over I would love to go. I can't afford to send myself this year and when I can afford it in the future, I'd be happy to donate to send others to future Netroot Nations.
