A little about me

I'm a college student and activist in my state. I'm the State President of the Kansas Young Democrats, and a Contributing Editor at Forward Kansas.

I would describe myself as a

blogger

Why I deserve a Netroots Nation Scholarship

Last year I attended Netroots and came back more informed about Netroots activism than I had ever been. Since Netroots last year I have worked tirelessly to further the progressive and democratic presence in my state. I hope to attend Netroots again this year and once again come back fighting harder than ever to turn my state a few shades bluer in the upcoming election cycle

I manage these blogs

Forward Kansas

The blogs I use most are

What first inspired me to get involved

I first got involved in high school in local campaigns then I started managing the social networking sites for campaigns and organizations I was involved with and it took off from there. In a little over the last year I started blogging and have become extremely passionate about online media.

How I've gotten others involved

I have always encouraged others to blog online about their political views, I have helped many people set up their sites and get started. I try to always be an advocate for political involvement when ever I can.

The blog post I am most proud of

Why I think participation in the blogosphere is important

I think no matter what you are doing in the blogosphere it is just as important as everything else. Blog posts would be meaningless if no one read and commented. The discussion that posts create are the most valuable part of blogging. It's all about furthering the discussion and expression of ideas.

More about my involvement with DFA and local work

I'm not, I attend DFA trainings whenever possible and use what I learn to take back to my community and get people involved.

More about my volunteer work

I recently finished a campaign for public safety and infrastructure in my hometown, I ran the online media for the campaign including building a community based site that provided a daily stream of positive news from the community and encouraged people to help keep the momentum going.

My Twitter manifesto on online activism

Online activism allows everyone to be involved, discounting it discounts everyone who can't participate traditionally.

My suggested bumper sticker slogan

The choices we make now, matter in November.

My idea for a cool new online action

Voter registration based events are what works best for us, throwing an event that requires people to register to in order to attend is one thing that we find really works on a college campus
