About the Petition

You know those pages of legalese you see when installing iTunes, signing up for Amazon or joining Facebook? The ones you don't read and just click "I Agree"? Violating those Terms of Service agreements makes you a felon!

It’s the only private contract you can serve time in a federal penitentiary for breaking. Congress passed the Computer Fraud and Abuses Act in 1986, before most Americans had a computer at home, before broadband, before it was even possible to view images on the web.

Aaron's Law is an amendment introduced by Rep. Zoe Lofgren to remove this arcane provision of the CFAA. Tell Congress not to make a federal case out of it. Let your representative know you agree with Rep. Lofgren, it's time for an update.

Please join us in signing this petition to pass Aaron's Law. Then, please share the petition. Talk about it with friends and family, this law affects them too. Join us in the fight for a more progressive digital future!
