Democracy for America supports Washington Congressional candidate Darcy Burner

Burlington, VT - On behalf of the progressive grassroots, Democracy for America today endorsed Darcy Burner who is running for Washington’s 8th Congressional District.

Darcy Burner enjoys the enthusiastic support of activists from local DFA groups such as Eastside Democracy for America. She is a true leader with the courage to fight for progressive values. Darcy’s brother currently serves in the Army’s 101st Airborne and has done one tour of duty in Iraq.  Burner knows firsthand the importance of clear benchmarks to measure success in Iraq, stem cell research, energy independence, strong public schools, ethics reform, affordable health care, environment protection, and retirement security.

Donna Edwards enjoys the enthusiastic support of activists from Democracy for Maryland and received the endorsement of the local groups, Democracy for Montgomery County and Progressive Cheverly. She is a true leader with the courage to fight for progressive values. The head of a liberal foundation, she opposes the Iraq war, supports women’s reproductive rights, affordable health care, living wages and retirement security for all.

The Washington Post has endorsed Edwards. "Tough, articulate and knowledgeable, [Donna] is one of the smartest and most impressive newcomers in Maryland politics ... We are convinced she would be the more forceful, principled and effective representative."
