Burlington, Vt.-Gov. Howard Dean, founder and honorary chair of Democracy for America (www.democracyforamerica.com) will visit Madison, Wisc. on Wednesday, September 1, 2004. He will attend a fundraising event for Progressive Majority and DFA-endorsed candidates for the state legislature at 9:00 a.m. at the Madison Concourse Hotel (One West Dayton Street).

Progressive Majority (www.progressivemajority.org) is an organization with the sole purpose of electing progressive champions to public office. This year, Progressive Majority launched its Candidate Recruitment and Development Program, the only national program of its kind that establishes locally-led affiliates in select states to recruit, train, support, and fund progressive candidates for local and state legislative office. The program currently operates in Washington, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, and has provided comprehensive political support to 99 candidates overall.

Through an organizational partnership announced in June, candidates endorsed and supported by Progressive Majority also receive the endorsement of Howard Dean's Democracy for America.

Democracy for America (DFA) is a political action committee dedicated to supporting fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of government-from school board to the presidency. DFA fights against the influence of the far right-wing and their radical, divisive policies and the selfish special interests that for too long have dominated our politics.
