Jim Dean Responds to Vice President Cheney's Attack On His Family

BURLINGTON, VT -- On Monday, Vice President Dick Cheney made the following statement about Gov. Howard Dean on the FOX News Channel's "Hannity and Colmes:"

"Maybe his mother loved him, but I've never met anybody who does."

Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America (DFA), issued the following statement today in response to the attack on his family:

"Vice President Cheney's claim that no one -- except for my mother -- has ever loved Howard is nothing but a childish attack. Apparently, he hasn't been introduced to the hundreds of thousands of Democracy for America members and former "Dean for America" activists throughout the country.

"Instead of wasting the American public's time talking about my brother's popularity -- Vice President Cheney should be discussing the administration's plans on bringing solvency to our Social Security system, providing quality, affordable health care for all Americans, and an actual exit strategy for the Iraq War.

"My brother is dedicated to changing this country from the bottom-up by putting the power back in the hands of the people. I love him for this, millions of activist across the country love him for this -- and my mother loves him for this."
