Candidate for Mayor of San Diego, California

BURLINGTON, VT -- This week, Democracy for America (DFA) endorsed Donna Frye for Mayor of San Diego, California -- making her a member of the DFA-List, Candidates for America. Each DFA-List candidate encompasses the true spirit of grassroots democracy, fiscal responsibility, and social progress. They are individuals who are dedicated to changing America from the ground up.

"Donna Frye has proven that she is determined to bring fiscal responsibility and government accountability back to the city of San Diego," said Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America. "Her record of leadership is one worth following, and we are honored to have her as part of our DFA-List."

Donna Frye won her first race for city council of San Diego, and quickly made a mark with her tenacious commitment to open government and accountability of government spending. But looming problems in the city's pension system -- problems she warned about as early as 2002 -- led to revelations about mismanagement, and ultimately the resignation of the incumbent mayor. Now, Donna is determined to bring fiscal responsibility to the city of San Diego with her honest and effective leadership as mayor. The special election is July 26, 2005.
