Jim Dean: We'll be here to help the people of New Orleans; we hope Hastert will be too

BURLINGTON, VT -- Today, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, (R-IL) Dennis Hastert told the Daily Herald, that rebuilding New Orleans "doesn't make sense."

Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America (DFA), issued the following statement in response:

"We've had enough with the leadership who voted to cut funding for flood control and prevention in New Orleans making these types of comments, especially at this crucial time.

"We will be here to help the people of New Orleans, no matter how long it takes and we hope that the Speaker of the United States House will be too."
