Democracy for America Endorses Tony Castro for District Attorney of Westchester County

BURLINGTON, VT -- Today, Democracy for America (DFA) endorsed Tony Castro for District Attorney of Westchester County, New York -- making him the newest member of the DFA-List, Candidates for America.

"Castro's commitment to the community and reputation for being tough and fair makes him the ideal candidate for District Attorney of Westchester County," said Jim Dean, Chair of Democracy for America. "I am confident that his proven leadership and regard for the highest of ethical standards will make all residents of Westchester proud."

Castro is no stranger to hard work and determination. At the age of nine, he immigrated to the United States from Portugal settling with his family in New Bedford, MA. He became the first in his family to go to college when he won a scholarship to Harvard University. After graduating from law school, Tony took a job working for the Bronx District Attorney where he worked his way up the ranks to become Deputy Chief in charge of Homicides and the Grand Jury Evaluation Bureau.

Now, Castro is running to fill the seat left open by Jeanine Pirro. Castro is committed to restoring integrity to the Westchester District Attorney's office, as well as redirecting resources, eliminating the current duplication of services, and restoring cooperation with all levels of law enforcement.
