Press Advisory: Democracy for America, MoveOn and TrueMajority to Hold Vigils Honoring the 2,000 Fallen Soldiers in Iraq

Released: Oct 25, 2005 6:50 PM

BURLINGTON, VT -- Today, the United States crossed a tragic milestone: 2,000 brave servicemen and women have sacrificed their lives for the war in Iraq. To honor the fallen, Democracy for America, MoveOn and TrueMajority members are holding candlelight vigils around the country tomorrow, Wednesday, October 26, at 6:30 p.m. local time.

"Today is a tragic day for all Americans," said Jim Dean, chair of Democracy for America. "The loss of 2,000 brave servicemen and women marks one of the saddest and worst days of the war in Iraq. These vigils are a way for Americans to honor the fallen and their families, and to stand with all our men and women in uniform."

Democracy for America, MoveOn and TrueMajority members have already planned over 700 hundred vigils throughout the country. To learn more, visit: http://political.moveon.org/event/iraqvigils/
