Democracy for America says NO! to Bush's Iraq War Escalation

Released: Jan 11, 2007 7:49 AM

Event Planned Across the Nation

Within 24 hours of President Bush’s announcement of an escalation of troops in Iraq, Democracy for America and others around the country will hold events calling on their member of Congress to say “No!” to the President’s new plan.

Over 900 grassroots Democracy for America groups have begun to download “NO!” signs, and to circulate petitions urging Congress to exercise its power of the purse to block any escalation of the war in Iraq, while providing sufficient funds for a safe and secure exit for U.S. troops.

President Bush’s plan for an escalation of the war sharply conflicts with the sentiment of the majority of Americans according to recent polls and the mid-term election results.

Democracy for America is partnering with TrueMajority Action, Win without War and other progressive organizations in hosting public rallies against an escalation of the Iraq War.

Democracy for America, which was founded by Howard Dean in 2004, is a political action committee dedicated to building a grassroots network of socially progressive and fiscally responsible activists running for all levels of office – from the school board to the United States Senate.  DFA is empowering everyday Americans to reform their political system.
