Columbus City Council
Columbus has the opportunity to lead the nation as a progressive, diverse, safe, sustainable and technology-friendly city. Jasmine has worked as a community organizer and with the Columbus City School Board. In 2015, she earned a Master’s of Public Affairs from the University of Texas. With her direct experience and education, she has the knowledge and values to help move Columbus in a more progressive direction.
As the economic engine of the state, Columbus provides good opportunities to many of its citizens. Unfortunately, many working-class households and neighborhoods of color are not benefiting from the recent growth. There are parts of the city that have been forgotten by the political and economic establishment. Jasmine is running for City Council to help lift the voices of the people, everyday folks working hard to provide for their families and push for proven and progressive solutions to our current problems. Columbus has the opportunity to lead the nation as a progressive, diverse, safe, sustainable and technology-friendly city, but only by holding fast to the commitment that everyone deserves to benefit from the growth.
She’s committed to fight for safer communities using proven community-centric policing models that provide the best training for officers working in diverse urban environments, and by ensuring access to treatment and trauma recovery programs for victims of violent crime.
She’ll support economic growth, protect public housing, encourage new housing developments to be mixed income; bolster and evaluate existing jobs programs, especially those targeted towards youth, and ensure tax breaks are a net positive for the city and its residents.
