Laura has lived in Orange County for over 40 years, attending UC Irvine before earning her Master’s in Architecture from UCLA, where she met her husband of 33 years. After they both lost their jobs in the 2008 recession, they founded Oatman Architects, which they eventually grew into a thriving small business in Newport Beach.

As a small business owner, Laura knows what it takes to create jobs, and what small businesses need to thrive, prosper and grow. As a LEED-accredited architect and green technology leader, she cares deeply about our environment, and is ready to invest in a new clean energy economy, to combat the devastating threat of climate change, and to protect clean air and water for future generations. She is a strong supporter of Medicare for All, ready to fight to ensure Americans have access to quality health care. She supports funding for light rail & public transit to connect our cities, cutting down on traffic and air pollution. She will tackle homelessness & the opioid epidemic that is affecting too many of our children. She will work to end the wage gap, and tackle inequities in our economy across race and gender. Laura is also committed to getting big money out of politics, and will take no money from the pharmaceutical industry, the fossil fuel industry, or any other industry that is looking to make a profit at the expense of people or planet.

Orange County deserves a Congresswoman who can deliver bold progressive leadership, stand up against Trump’s GOP, and truly represent the more diverse, unique culture of OC and with her track record and vision, Laura Oatman is ready to work alongside the people of the 48th district and build that blueprint together.
