Suffolk County District Attorney
A Georgetown University Law graduate and seasoned prosecutor, Rachael has served as both a state Assistant District Attorney and a federal Assistant United States Attorney in Massachusetts. While a federal prosecutor, Rachael prosecuted matters ranging from fraud and white collar criminal offenses to drug trafficking and weapons charges. Rachael understands the power of transparent prosecution, and the importance of accountability to the community.
A groundbreaking and accomplished leader, Rachael was the first female general counsel for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and the first to jointly serve as general counsel of both the MBTA and Massachusetts Department of Transportation. There, Rachael managed a staff of over one hundred and fifty attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. She later served as chief legal counsel for the Massachusetts Port Authority.
As Suffolk County’s District Attorney, Rachael will use her leadership acumen to establish a new lens to look at the complicated problems plaguing the criminal justice system. Rachael will work collaboratively with the community to innovatively tackle issues such as the treatment of mental illness and drug addiction as opposed to incarceration and ensuring equality in sentencing regardless of an individuals’s race or socioeconomic status.
