Time for DFA to endorse Obama

Just a few months ago, after a vote to decide whether DFA should wade into the presidential primaries, DFA launched a national campaign to elect a progressive president. It was, as we all recognized, an "anbody but Hillary campaign." With Kucinich and Edwards out of the race, how does that not translate into an official endorsement of Barack Obama. I realize the "Let the Voters Decide" petition is a way of doing that, but this is an opportunity for DFA.

Politically, there is nothing to gain from DFA endorsing Hillary, and I think nothing to gain from staying out completely. Sure political capital can be used elsewhere, but the Obama campaign is following DFA's playbook. This is a hopeful campaign that values all 50 states, and believe's in Governor Dean's 50 state strategy. The campaign has perfected many of the strategies and techniques that DFA began. As we use "socially progressive, fiscally responsible" as our endorsement guideline, Obama fits. I was a bit apprehensive as many DFA'ers were at the beginning of the campaign that Obama, who could wage such an amazing campaign, revolution even, was a bit of an empty shirt. It turns out that it was just a slow start. He is becoming, day by day, everything I could hope for in a nominee.

The Nation's recent article "The Dean Legacy"  by Ari Berman clearly laid out who what started with DFA 1.0 and continued with DFA 2.0 is exactly what Obama seeks to in this campaign. An Obama endorsement from DFA could be important...not in a national news perspective, but certainly on the ground. We can still raise money, we can still move resources, we can REALLY put on a hell of a training.

It's time to get off the sidelines. We need to wrap this thing up before April 22 in PA. DFA can help. TIme for a DFA endorsement? What do y'all think?

Mr. Workman needs to read the rules and follow the law.

Get real.

Senator Boxer got more votes in 2004 than any US Senate candidate in history but that didn't make her the Senate Majority Leader now did it.

Read the rules.

An OPEN LETTER TO Barack Obama:

>>  Recent Press Reports say:  Obama ridicules notion of VP slot. It's premature, he said of accepting the second spot on the ticket.

Well not really!!  You are not ready for prime time yet!  A powerful VP slot would give you the exposure and maturity you need to EARN your right to hold down one of the most important jobs in the world.  You have had a spectacular rise, it is true . . . leap-frogging and eloquently talking your way to where you are now.

Russian, Venezuelan, Iranian, Chinese, and Palestinian leaders will make mince meat out of you !!!   If ever you ever get past McCain (which is un likely).

Just sit down and think about what the Republicans did to a true war hero in 2004, and what they did to a future Nobel Prize winner in 2000!

Join an UNstoppable Dream Team!!!

Take a STEP BACK and look at the “big picture”!!!

Barack Obama, you must work out a VP deal with a commitment (written guarantees / detailed working papers) that your role will be MUCH MORE than that of the traditional VP, much more that that of key advisor, much more than just being a key influencer on staffing of Cabinet Slots and Supreme Court appointments.  You will be a truly powerful VP!

Your hubris and wit might, at this critical juncture for the Democrats, causes you and your wildly enthusiastic team of supporters to be short sighted.  Just think, if it is change that you REALLY want … would not hooking up with Hillary, bringing a huge majority into BOTH houses of Congress on your joint coat tails be the way to do it???!!!???

It is now YOUR moment . . . either seize it in an intelligent way, as a path to the white house (in 4 or 8 years), or squander it away on a miasmic dream.

For no matter who you choose for a running mate, you are doomed to failure!  And even if you miraculously get into the White House, with a split do nothing Congress to work with, you will be just like Jimmy Carter. (By the way . . . I admire Jimmy, and the wild enthusiasm he also generated . . . but Jimmy has been a much better former president then president).

If ANYBODY thinks the country that elected this president twice will elect a black man named hussein president, they are stupid or fooling themselves. DFA should work on shoring up the democratic party and it's ideals and let the voters decide the nominee... No endorsement, especially for a candidate that can't win.
