I have three fundamental complaints and one suggestion:
First it would be nice to automatically get scrolled to go back to where you started after you submit a comment, or go back to where you where when you refresh your screen, so you don't have to look at the time of that post and ;hunt for it after you refresh, so as to make sure you read all the posts. That's the way it was on the last two blog formats we had.
The other thing is that my computer won't remember my password for logging in. I just installed XP and it always asks me if I want Windows to remember my password, but it never does.
Your menu titles and navigation links could be more explanatory and/or more instinctive, minimizing guess work. It is OK now for the regular bloggers, who will hack it out, but visitors and potential members might get frustrated, leave and never come back.
Suggestion: Graphics is nice, but I would also be nice if those who have slow machines or dial up connections could opt for a text only format, and filter out the graphics.
Otherwise, you've got some pretty snazzy features and I commend you for that accomplishment. Just remember the fundamentals, because without them, the snazzy feature amount to window dressing and programming experiments, in which we will feel like laboratory rats.
We used to have 'guidelines' for this blog. not that i saw them enforced
very much, but at least they existed. the link for same, no longer works...
http://www.democracyforamerica.com/guide...
Sometimes the rich text works, the next time I log on here I have to switch to plain text, which I hate. I have AOL, DSL and Windows XP and IE.
Also, I wish the graphics had a limit of how large they can be. Some are so large they are annoying and distracting.
A few of my other complaints have been posted by others so I won't bother with them.
This blog is shaping up nicely however, a great improvement already.
Firefox on XP
The refresh seems to be leaving it in the last place I read, which is good
I'm having to log-in several times a day, instead of about once a week, which is a bit of hassle
Toolbar seems to function fine for me now. Overall, most of my glitches seem to have been resolved.
I guess I spoke too soon.
Now, in Firefox in XP, refreshing forces it to the "Write a comment" box.
had to log in twice to get to post this comment
Also, being loged in to one tab (Front, Write, etc) doesn't mean you're loged in to others. Sometimes the program doesn't even recognize one's email and password. Just putting the same info back in seems to work.
Using Opera 9.0 on a MacBook running OS-X now enables me to comment on the main thread (Front) in plain text. On the other hand, 'Write" lets me use rich text for the post, but any comments have to be in plain. you will see a couple of my posts with images. The only problem with the rich comment window is that there's over-run when you use diacritical marks other than periods. In other words, the use of a comma or a dash in a line causes the edge to move.
Settings also don't transfer reliably from tab to tab.
This is what I just got for this page in Safari:

Fix so when you follow a link and 'back' back to the blog, you are brought back to your original place in the thread (this would be the point of the link you followed).
Fix so when you login to comment, it takes you to the point in the thread where you logged in (bottom??)
Fix so 'refresh screen' refreshes, but brings you back to where you were when you hit the refresh button.
Thanks for all you do Luigi.
Opera 9.0 on a MacBook is not accepting comments this morning--either on the 'front' or browse all tab. That is, it permits composition, but the submit page doesn't work.
Also, when one is composing on the rich comment window, it doesn't accept drag and drop only copy and paste.
getting same messages as 13.
I just noticed that when I closed one blogforamerica thread in Opera, the other pages closed as well. That's been a problem for links blogs for a while in that opening a new one replaces the old one. Since that doesn't happen on KOS where I can have multiple posts on tabs open at once, I'm assuming it's a BFA glitch. When you're working with multiple windows for different threads and opening a new one happens in another window that you don't happen to be looking at, it's very disconcerting.
For example, under previous protocol, if I wanted to compose a post for my linkblog incorporating information from BFA, it was very cumpersome to go back and forth between the two because opening one would shut the other down and then I'd have to page back to find it.
Well, Firefox on the MAC does seem to work great.
Too bad Firefox doesn't have that nice sidebar on the left where you can keep notes.
Luigi, for days now, when a new thread is posted, I can no longer get the previous thread.

It just erased the one before the one above. What the heck is happening? Can't get to the main thread, either.
OK, I got a message yesterday that some of my problems may be related to a firewall, new security measures or a cookie block.
The first two aren't applicable but I mention them because they might affect others. I actually accept all cookies, but Opera has a function that allows new cookies to be discarded when the browser is closed. My BFA cookies have been kept for a long time, but it seems that the new software is setting some new ones and those were being discarded whenever I close a page. The sollution is to disable the discard function, access the BFA pages (DFAlink has a separate cookie), then shut down the computer and, after restarting, reset the discard function to discard "new" cookies. Just closing the browser isn't enough. You have to reboot the computer.
I will post this comment on the trouble thread, as well
I can't use CTRL F with the new blog. When I do so, all the windows on my computer freeze up, and I have to manually shut down the computer and restart it.
Is this a virus/spyware or something? Often, when I go to DFA, my spyware program blocks lyrics.com.
Also, when I was blogging the other night, whenever I posted something, the thread would begin at the bottom but then bounce back to the top. I don't know if that makes sense, but it was annoying.
Thanks!
I'm no longer able to post from AOL. I can get in but it keeps asking for me to sign in over and over and over. It was fine last week.
I can get in thru Netscape, though it takes me to Yahoo and from there I can get in. But once in, when I click on a link, the blog window closes when the new window opens. Plus it usually throws me off IE also. So then I have to start all over.
I had none of these problems last week. Things were working after you tweaked for AOL and older computers.
I can't do graphics, but I would like to have the option to shut them off since they slow down my computer.
I'm on a MAC 10.1.5.
Other than that, things are good. If I can get back to where I was 3 months ago or even threee days ago, I'd be contented.
Thanks, Luigi!
One more thing. When I try to copy just one sentence from a blogger, the whole post or even the whole thread copies. And also copying is difficult from another link. It either copies nothing or everything and I really have to work it and work it to copy just what I want. That may be my older IE which I never used to blog. I don't have that problem on AOL. If I could get in to post on AOL, I don't think I'd have the other problems. At least I never did.
Well, I'm back to not being able to post from AOL. It worked for a few hours his afternoon. I keep getting the log in box over and over.
Now I can't get in on AOL - it keeps saying that I have the wrong password. I'm sure you're working hard and thank you.
IE is so slow with all the photos...

Luigi if you are still reading this thread THANK YOU for fixing everything I listed in number 14 above.
Sure wish I could post links and pictures using Safari on my Mac - will we ever be able to do this??
Hi folks,
Considering the formatting toolbar, please note that only newer versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer will work 100% properly. If you're using other browsers, your best bet is to change to plain text. You'll still get the functionality of auto-linking URLs.
Luigi, I now have a brand new Mac with new Firefox and Safari, and like Denise and her new mac, I can't post links or photos. Plus when I post, the words run off into the blue margin right off the page, cutting off the left margin. My chain is never clickable.
Please access this website on a new Mac so you can see what's happening. Or find someone who knows macs. And please let us now if this will ever be fixed for mac users. The problem, I don't think, is not the old browsers but the SW is just not compatible with macs . The first night I had my new mac, several days ago, most everything worked well, then suddenly nothing. Thank you for all you're doing and good luck. Bill Gates did not make it easy for macs and pcs to get along!!!

Luigi, cC just taught me how to make the link live. I missed that lesson. So now that works, but I still have this text running off into the blue and into oblivion. It works better if I don't enlarge the text but the text is then so small that the whole post could fit on the head of a pin. :-)
I hope I didn't break the blog. Now I can't get in to read or post. Sorry if I messed up.
