Al Gore wants you to host a Inconvenient Truth showing

Here is an email I received from Move-on.  I am forwarding this because I can not host a party but would attend one.

My apt is in transition and along with boxes and mess everywhere, I do not have the seating.  Any way, if someone wants to do this just go sign up.  Move-on will send the invitations etc...

This is a diary from dkos.  Please spread the word.  Since the DLC and party hacks like James Carville, Paul Begala and Rahm Emmanuel are determined to undermine Dean and us, we are taking action.

[UPDATE] Howard Dean Birthday Donation Project: Final Plan Hotlistby pattyp [Subscribe] Sat Nov 11, 2006 at 10:39:11 PM EST

[UPDATE: It's been suggested we write in our cards "From your supporter in the blogosphere" or something similar, so Dean will know it originated here. You can write DailyKos if you want, but I'm sending this around to several other blogs hoping for more participation, so it's not just Kossacks.]

See this diary for full details:

Roundup of Dean birthday/DNC contribution ideas

Okaly-dokaly Kossaritos, I'm going to wrap this up, since we need to get rolling on the Great Howard Dean Birthday Card Project of Ought-6. ;-) Based on the poll results in the above diary, the preferred option is:

Snail-mail a birthday card to Dr. Dean and enclose a check/money order to the DNC for $XX.50 (i.e., any amount you want, plus 50 cents in support the 50-State Strategy)!

Dropping out as link host

Dear DFA members,

I am dropping out as link-up host.

I know that this group has been more or less inactive and that is my responsibility. To the new members (and we have a few new members every month) if you really motivated to get going and have some experience leading meetings, consider taking over as host.

I would love to see the group taken over by someone who is motivated to grow it and to use it for local organizing. That person would have to have the time and enegy to do it and new sorces or new ideas about how to get new members involved.

Need another email vote

There was a meeting of the state wide DFa organization in which they wrote up a state charter. You can find it at this link (warning PDA file) www.dfalink.com/uploads/files/81...%20Charter%202-11-6.pdf

They need so many groups to vote afirmatively to ratify the charter. Please email me back at Teese02a@yahoo.com or respond at the DFAlink in this message to let me know if we should agree to adopt this charter. Also know that we must elect a representative to the state organization. It would be a great oportunity for someone who wants to network with activists all over the state.

We can endorse Carney for DFA

Written by: Teresa Welby on Mar 8, 2006 1:28 PM EST

I am working as volunteer coordinator for Carney for Congress. I would like to know how you all feel about endorsing Chris for the DFAlist. Please send me an email with your vote to endorse Carney for congress or not. It is okay to vote even if you do not live in the 10th district since you are a member of the Scranton Clarks Summit DFA.
Chris is the only democratic candidate it seems like a no brainer to endorse him. What do you think?

Jim Buck sent this to me and I thought I would forward it. It is short notice, but if you would like to go just click on or copy and paste the link here:

I attended a Camp Wellstone training two years ago and it was worth every dollar I spent. This one is free, I urge you to go if you can.

To: Teresa Welby
From: Jim Buck

Subject: Join my DFA-Link event!

There have been other political training sessions around the state, but this is the only one I know of right here in the heart of the Central Susquehanna Valley. It's also the only one I know of that is free.

The session will be led by Bailey Childers, the DNC's new regional field organizer for central PA.

We've already gotten RSVP's from people in several counties. Hope you can join us on Saturday.

Message from Jim Buck (DFA, Carney Campaign)

Written by: Teresa Welby on Mar 2, 2006 10:43 AM EST

Linked to groups: Scranton Clarks Summit DFA

Hi I joined the Central Susquehanna group because one of the leaders of that group, Jim Buck, is part of organizing the whole state for DFA. He sent out the post below this post this morning and I thought you all might like to see it.

Jim is also the Field Dirctor for the Carney Campaign and I have been volunteering as their volunteer coordinator. Jim and I met, talked etc... This is going to be a good campaign. I hope you will all consider joining up and offering some time, energy etc.
The office is on Melrose Ave, right around the corner from me... very conveeeenient.

Right now the campaign has many house parties happening. We are working on getting some more in the next month. So if you would like to hold one or know of someone who would, please let us know. You can email me at Teresa@CarneyforCongress.com or Drew@CarneyforCongress.com. We are possible having a change as far as finance director, so I won't give that address out yet.

One of our newest DFA members has agree to hold a house party. His name is Jim Clark. I believe his house is officiall in Clarks Green, Thanks Jim!

Here's the article from Jim Buck:

This message was sent by your Central Susquehanna Citizens Coalition
organizer, Jim Buck.

This evening, the Associated Press released secret transcripts and
video footage showing President Bush being personally briefed the day
before Hurricane Katrina hit land. The predictions he heard were
shockingly precise and accurate--including the failure of the levees.
He knew exactly what was coming.

The article is a smoking gun on Bush's unpardonable failure to keep us
safe. In just a few hours, the White House will be filling the
airwaves with spin, so it's important to reach out right now to pass
on the straight story to family and friends. If each of us acts, we
can directly reach millions of people before morning.

The full AP article is attached below. Can you help get the word out
to at least 5 friends? You can forward on this note or follow the link
below:

http://www.moveon.org/r?...

At the August 28th briefing, the president was told exactly what to
expect:

* The chief scientist of the National Hurricane Center warned that
a major levee breach was "obviously a very, very grave concern." Bush
lied to the entire nation about this point just 5 days later.
* Michael Brown told the president that if New Orleans flooded the
Superdome emergency shelter would likely be under water and short on
supplies, creating a "catastrophe within a catastrophe."
* Experts and officials implored the President to prepare for, as
the AP described it, "devastation of historic proportions."

President Bush didn't ask a single question during the briefing. In
the next two days he campaigned, attended birthday parties and played
guitar while the worst natural disaster in American history killed
over 1,300 people and displaced hundreds of thousands.

There can now be no mistake: President Bush had a chance to lead, and
he failed to keep us safe.

In the next few days, we'll be tracking this story carefully and
coordinating our response with partners in New Orleans and around the
nation.

The survivors of Katrina deserve to know why the president left them
to suffer the storm. And the people of the United States deserve
leadership we can trust to keep our families safe. We'll work hard
together until we have both.

Tonight, let's start by spreading the word:

Thanks for all that you do,

Hi,

The Carney campaign is looking for people who would be willing to circulate petitions for him. They don't need a lot of them, but would like some from both Lack and Luz counties.
If you can help let me know and please include your email in your response so that I can get it to Andrew.

Pennacchio in Wilkes Barre

Written by: Teresa Welby on Feb 13, 2006 3:05 PM EST

Linked to groups: Scranton Clarks Summit DFA

If anyone is interested in meeting Chuck Pennacchio, he will be appearing in Wilkes Barre. I will probably be going down to meet him. I know that most of you will be supporting Casey, but I am interested in having an open primary regardless of the outcome. Here is a message I received.:

Here's a chance to meet the Dem US Senate candidatge with the best
chance to beat Santorum -- Chuck Pennacchio. Unlike Bob Junior, Dr.
Pennacchio does NOT support Bush on Iraq, Equal Rights, Stem Cell,
abortion, the Death Penalty, PATRIOT, Alito, or Roberts. AND unlike
Casey, Chuck does NOT take ANY PAC money (Casey's PAC money comes from
the same 230 PACs that support Santorum, btw).

WHAT Open House -- greet, meet, talk with the candidate
WHEN Thursday, 2/16/06
TIME 7:30 pm
WHERE 334 S Franklin St, Wilkes Barre (Offices of Smithford Business
Lawyers LLC)
WHO EVERYONE

We'd like to have a great showing for Chuck on Casey's backyard.
Please come and/or tell everyone you know in NE PA to show up and say hi.

Mistake on my last communication

Written by: Teresa Welby on Feb 13, 2006 10:50 AM EST

Dear DFAers,

I made a mistake in talling you that the position on the statewide council would be a paid position. I am not sure why I missread the information that way. In anycase, it is a volunteer position.

Hope to see you all on 3-02-06. Friendly's at 7pm. Please RSVP at DFA link.

There is a good article about one of our members Michael Santella, who has also started a DFA group in Susquehanna country. The story is call Preying on our Poorest. Link

Just scroll down until you find it. It also links to an article in the Scranton paper. The HS there has one of the highest enlistment rates in the nation because a lot of these kids don't have hope for anything better.
Go read the article.
