Iraq for Sale film and using social calendars to spread the word

Written by: Ron Suarez on Oct 7, 2006 2:25 PM EDT

I have posted our film event to Upcoming.org, see:
upcoming.org/event/106627/...

A little learning can go a long way in helping us to be more effective and easily share info about events that our group members may want to attend, even when those events are not official DFA events.

Here's a little glossary, but you can just go to Upcoming.org and start using it. Please email questions and comments to me directly: drron at object-insight dot com.

A shared social calendar distributes the work of finding and posting calendar events among a group of people. Then anyone, even outside the group can easily see all the events that have been "tagged" in one place.

Social Software - examples includes online communities sharing, photos, bookmarks or calendar events

Tag - metadata (keywords) entered to describe an object, e.g. tagging a film as activism or anti-war
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tag_%28met...

Tag Cloud - a visual display of tags, that uses font size as an indicator of how many objects are linked to a tag
