Training about PrecinctCaptains.org
August 8, 6:00 pm, IAMAW Union Hall
5402 Bolsa Ave., Huntington Beach, CA

In the past, Precinct Work was campaign oriented not Democrat oriented. That meant that every campaign pretty much targeted the same voters in the same precincts and ignored everyone else. So the "lucky voter" got targeted for phone calls, mailings, and people pounding on his door. He might have been flattered at first, but that faded by election day.
Making the Ground Game Sane Again

The secret to success is to put together one field campaign for all Democrats: Voter Registration, Voter Contact, and Get Out The Vote. Add to that year round constituent service by a friendly neighbor and you make voting personal.

We have stepped forward into the 21st Century using web based tools to manage our precinct lists and contact information. How many times have you walked a precinct, returned your walking list with carefully prepared notes, only to have the information ignored because there was no one to follow up? How many voters wanted to volunteer, or just get a yard sign, and no one called them back? How many of them didn't bother to vote as a result?

With the precinct management tools from PrecinctCaptains.org, you create your own lists from the county database, target specific voter characteristics, follow up with voters, and keep the database up to date with current and correct information. We can show you how easy it is to manage your precinct, or just your street.

Bring your laptop with wireless internet to our training event on August 8 and we will have you up and running in no time.
You Can Make the Difference

As a precinct activist you'll have access to a web-based database of registered voters in your precinct/neighborhood. It makes it easy to create walking lists and keep up to date on Democrats in your neighborhood. You can take on a whole precinct, an apartment block, or just a couple of streets.

Ø Make personal contact with the voters on your list. Talk to them about their concerns and what issues are important to them. Most important, keep in touch on a personal level.

Ø Re-register Democrats for permanent vote-by-mail ballots. Re-register Decline-to-State voters and recovering Republicans. Register people who move into your neighborhood and neighbors who turn 18.

Ø Invite neighbors to Democratic Clubs, DFA, PDA, Move-On, or local progressive events.

Ø Keep track of your precinct neighbors on election day and get out the vote. They will do it for you!
