Petition Delivery to Congressman Wexler
Linked to groups: Democracy for Palm Beach County
The Congressman will be speaking at Century Village, Hillsboro Rd.,Deerfiled Beach. I think we should have a DFA presence in attendance as we deliver the Super Delegates petition. He was not available in his office on the Big Day but his assistant recommended, since he would not be back in his office for over a week, that we hand deliver it personally.
Anyone who has buttons, signs, whatever, please bring them along.
Don't miss this opportunity = no doubt there will be press coverage and it would be great advertising for DFA.
If Not Al Gore - Dennis Kucinich
Linked to groups: DFA-Link Organizers
DFA's poll shows Al Gore the significant forerunner "if the election were held today", Pullling the lever for Al Gore is a no brainer - you don't have to consider his presidential qualifications or his platforms. We know all about Al and we congratulate him for the honors that have been bestowed upon him. We would clearly support without a second thought.
BUT - what if all our pleas to him go for naught. What is simply won't do it? Well then we will have to put on our thinking caps and do some real research, For anyone who has heard Dennis Kucinich speak, either through the media or in person - you get an immediate sense of urgency in the man and his words. His passion for Democracy and Peace is readily evident. Dennis is 100% for National Health Care and Education.
Dennis Kucinich is the Adlai Stevenson of our time and we must not miss out again. So he's an egghead - haven't we had enough of "if I only had a brain" Bush? Wouldn't it be a relief to have someone as president who knows how to read and do research and who completely understands and embraces the Constitution. Did you know that Dennis carries around a pocket sized copy of the Constitution every day, for reference and inspiration.
So do your due dilligence on Dennis Kucinich - he's not a no brainer like Al Gore - you have to put some effort into knowing and understanding Kucinich - he's got a power no one appreciates without seeing him live or in person.
Come to Orlando to meet Dennis and his wife - check out Florida DFA for details. Hook up with Susan Smith to find out anything you need to know about the program.
Join me and thousands of others who consider themselves Kitizens ;-)
Dennis Kucinich 4 President
Linked to groups: DFA-Link Organizers
- Dennis will bring the troops home within 3 months of taking office
- He stands for National Healthcare and Education
- He's for Human Rights for EVERYONE - no exceptions
- Dennis voted against the Iraq Invasion from the very beginning
- He is beholden only to WE THE PEOPLE - not to powerful lobbies and special interest groups that have helped the campaigns of Clinton, Obama and Edwards
- Clinton, Obama and Edwards stated that they support the plan to remain in Iraq until 2013 - ARE THEY KIDDING ME????
- He's firm on women's rights and gay/lesbian rights
Yes, he's an egghead; just like Adlai Stevenson was. That was an opportunity missed by America - let's not make the same mistake again.
VOTE FOR DENNIS KUCINICH - THE FATE OF OUR COUNTRY, OUR DEMOCRACY, THE CONSTITUTION AND OUR POSITION IN THE WORLD AT LARGE HAVE NEVER BEEN IN SUCH JEOPARDY. BUSH HAS BROUGHT US TO THE VERY BRINK AND A MAN LIKE DENNIS IS JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!
Lieberman/Kyl = Terrorism
Linked to groups: Florida DFA
Dear Democratic Senator
If anyone wants to talk Terror, talk about the Lieberman/Kyl amendment. Americans are now in terror of our own government, alas, even our own Party. How could you have voted for this horrific language? There is no other interpretation of the word "combat" than exactly what it means = WAR. My terror at contemplating the passage of this bill, knowing you'd voted for it was somewhat quelled when told that the language had been taken out, but this is like one of those near (nuclear bomb) misses.
It's been at least two years since Condi Rice testified for the President with a thousand "I can't respond to that." and/or "I have no information to that effect." She did, however, manage to include plenty of anti Iran verbiage and right then I began to become afraid. Now, with the passing of the Lieberman/Kyl amendment - anxiety is running rampant amongst loyal democrats and progressives. We have been wanting and fighting for an end to the Occupation of Iraq and now, the Senate has put unbridled power in Bush's hands. He can evade (or so he thinks) the growing dissent of Americans by dropping bombs on a Sovereign Nation that is not an impending threat to America (neither was Iraq).
I believe that at this point, Iran is only planning to use the uranium for power and electricity.
There are other nations with nuclear capabilities, also ruled by madmen and extremists.
If there is an attack on Iran by the United States it will open the door for WWIII. We do not have the military might we once did - unless Bush plans to go nuclear and destroy half the world. We do not have men to put on the ground (and nor should we).
Your vote of Yea for the Lieberman/Kyl amendment comes as a shock and major disappointment. You did not accurately represent your constituents and that is an unforgivable infraction of your sworn duty. We all put our faith and trust in you in November '06 and readily elected you to office based on your anti-war platform. I feel betrayed and mortally afraid of the consequences of your vote (even with the bellicose language taken out).
Perhaps you would take a moment to explain yourself.
Respectfully,
Louise Friedman

John Cory is a Vietnam veteran. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with V device, 1969 - 1970.
He writes,
"And so it goes. The 4th of July is here with its parades and "what America means to me" essays, and picnics and fireworks, and all those pretty speeches about freedom and democracy and the true meaning of Independence Day. But it is all a facade. A lie.
"Modern America now spies on its citizens, conducts warrantless wiretaps, suspends habeas corpus, creates "free speech zones" to corral protesters out of sight of sensitive royal eyes, and politicizes the very justice system meant to protect people's rights by turning it into a fraternity of God-fearing Republican conservatism.
Neocon America rewards hate speech with celebrity, reviles the very immigration that built this country, and sells out to the highest lobbyist while poisoning its people. Preemptive war trumps truth, and death is glorified by those who never have to sacrifice an ounce of flesh. America has become the personal ATM machine of Bush and the GOP while their corporate cronies line their pockets with the lives of our loved ones...."

Summer Surprise - Al Gore in 2008
Linked to groups: Democracy 4 The Palm Beaches
It seems to me that if all the Florida DFA groups got together and appealed to Al Gore to throw his hat in the ring - America could be restored. The Occupation in Iraq could end! The environment could change. The nation could be united rather than the divisiveness under Bush.
We need Al Gore now more than ever and none of the current candidates are up to the task. Hillary talks out of two sides of her face and the others are just not presidential material, well - Kucinich is great but stands no chance of winning.
Al Gore is the ticket and maybe Webb as VP.
Let's get something going - will you rise to the occasion?
In Solidarity,

The Legacy of the Roosevelts
Linked to groups: Democracy for Palm Beach County
One of the main missions of GWB has been to destroy the legacy of social consciousness and Democracy in it's truest form ... for the people, by the people, etc.
JFK is turning in his grave (Bobby too) to see this nation so divided and the practice of involving Church and State in governing America.
I believe that there is an answer right around the corner and that DFA should get behind it - that would be urging Al Gore to run for 2008. He's come a long way baby - he's the superstar Howard Dean would have been but for the vicious tongue of Karl Rove, et al.
Al Gore is a man of the people and the planet and would restore this country to it's originally validated Constitution.
Are you ready to get together and take action? If not you, who?
