Lieberman/Kyl = Terrorism

 Dear Democratic Senator

If anyone wants to talk Terror, talk about the Lieberman/Kyl amendment.  Americans are now in terror of our own government, alas, even our own Party.  How could you have voted for this horrific language?  There is no other interpretation of the word "combat" than exactly what it means = WAR.  My terror at contemplating the passage of this bill, knowing you'd voted for it was somewhat quelled when told that the language had been taken out, but this is like one of those near (nuclear bomb) misses.

It's been at least two years since Condi Rice testified for the President with a thousand "I can't respond to that." and/or "I have no information to that effect."  She did, however, manage to include plenty of anti Iran verbiage and right then I began to become afraid. Now, with the passing of the Lieberman/Kyl amendment - anxiety is running rampant amongst loyal democrats and progressives.  We have been wanting and fighting for an end to the Occupation of Iraq and now, the Senate has put unbridled power in Bush's hands.  He can evade (or so he thinks) the growing dissent of Americans by dropping bombs on a Sovereign Nation that is not an impending threat to America (neither was Iraq).

I believe that at this point, Iran is only planning to use the uranium for power and electricity.

There are other nations with nuclear capabilities, also ruled by madmen and extremists.

If there is an attack on Iran by the United States it will open the door for WWIII.  We do not have the military might we once did - unless Bush plans to go nuclear and destroy half the world.  We do not have men to put on the ground (and nor should we).

Your vote of Yea for the Lieberman/Kyl amendment comes as a shock and major disappointment.  You did not accurately represent your constituents and that is an unforgivable infraction of your sworn duty.  We all put our faith and trust in you in November '06 and readily elected you to office based on your anti-war platform.  I feel betrayed and mortally afraid of the consequences of your vote (even with the bellicose language taken out).

Perhaps you would take a moment to explain yourself.

Respectfully,

Louise Friedman

If you find this post relevant and share my fears - please use this as a letter to your Senator(s) if he/she is a Democrat who voted YEA on Lieberman//Kyl.  Naturally you are free to edit it any way you see fit but I think it's important to stress the FEAR and TERROR in our hearts and our disappointment in these Democratic Senators whom we voted into office in '06.  We should run an ad that says "Senators Betray Us" ... see how they swallow that pill.
