Loop Supporters DFA Linkup Summary - OCTOBER
Linked to groups: Loop DFA
Hello and thanks for being a member of Loop DFA!-> Here is a summary of Wednesday's Loop DFA linkup:
* 20 people attended.
* Meeting began just after 7 PM at Exchequer with introductions.
* Our guest speaker was Greg Brewer, who is running for alderman in the 50th ward. Greg told us about his campaign and answered many questions. He didnt ask us to volunteer but instead hoped to secure our support in DFA's endorsement process. We will keep everyone up-to-date on that. His campaign website is: www.citizensforbrewer.org...
* The focus of our meeting was discussion with our longtime member David Askew about his ongoing campaign for 2nd ward Alderman. David spoke eloquently about his campaign and his stand on the issues, and others told about their experience gathering signatures to get him on the ballot. Please try to make time to volunteer for David soon, as we plan to gather signatures every weekend thru December. His campaign website is: http://askewfor2.com/
* Then we talked about a number of upcoming events and activities:
- Tomorrow, October 10th is a Free Book Discussion w/ Andy Stern, head of SEIU. He will be talking about his new book, A Country That Works, in Downtown Chicago. It should be a great event. Here's a link: www.soapblox.net/chicago/event.d...
- This Wednesday evening, October 11th, is the monthly Democracy for Illinois conference call. This is intended for all members of DFA groups in Illinois. Everyone is invited to be on the call, and offer up advice and opinions. Info is available by RSVPing at:
