Welcome New DFA Tampa Bay Members

Written by: Scott Cochran on Jun 18, 2006 12:43 AM EDT

Greetings,

I want to personally extend a warm welcome to our new members here at DFA Tampa Bay. According to the DFALink web site, over 50 new members have joined DFA Tampa Bay in the past few weeks.

We hope that our new members are team players, people who will get involved and actually contribute to our mission, which is the election of progressive and fiscally-responsible candidates to office at all levels. We need your help now. In particular, we have a serious need for immediate assistance in two areas:

1. Precinct work: We need volunteers to canvass and contact Democratic voters in many of our local precincts. Please contact Susan Smith or Jack Sandler via DFA Link to sign up. If we don't have registered, motivated, informed voters, the candidates you support will not likely win in November. We MUST strengthen the party from the grass roots.

2. Candidate help: Our local candidates need your help urgently, and very soon. They need help with petitions, they need contributions, and they need volunteers for any number of tasks. Check the DFALink web site for a list of local campaigns and endorsed candidates. Strong candidates like April Griffin, Mary Mulhern, Phyllis Busansky, John Russell, Betty Reed, and Stephen Gorham need your skills and enthusiasm to win this fall.

Finally, there are a number of other projects that DFA Tampa Bay would like to take on, if we have enough active members and volunteers.

We are excited about the growth in new members and we will be watching closely for an increase in volunteers and support for our candidates and precinct work. We are counting on you.

Again, Welcome to DFA Tampa Bay.

Scott Cochran
