Judicial Candidate Recommendations
At our regular October meeting on this past Wednesday night, we were privileged to have all eight Hillsborough Circuit Court judicial candidates as guests. Each candidate made some opening remarks and then they all took questions from the DFA members present.Everyone present was impressed with the candidates as a group. They are highly-educated, articulate, personable, and have track records of involvement in the community. None displayed any signs of right-wing bias or a tendency toward extremism. Our questions were more philosophical and values-oriented than they were issue-specific.
Based on the meeting, and on other published information about the candidates, we were able to choose someone in each race whom we, as progressive Democrats, would recommend. The list below is provided in light of the fact that most people do not have access to a lot of information about judicial candidates. These are not formal endorsements.
Our recommended candidates in the four races are:
Bernie Silver
Gary Dolgin
Kim Fernandez
Emily Peacock
Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting, and especially to all eight judicial candidates!
