We did it!

Hi DFA'ers,

We did it! On Tuesday, Deval Patrick, DFA-Brandeis endorsed candidate for Governor, won a land-slide victory as he took 50% of the vote in a race where Gabrielli came in second with a mere 27%. Even though DFA-Brandeis candidate John Bonifaz did not win his race for Secretary of the Commonwealth, his candidacy and campaign made a bold statement. On Tuesday, John Bonifaz, who challenged a 12-year incumbent, stood with 130,000 voters to proclaim that the people of Massachusetts demand electoral reform.

At a recent rally, Deval called DFA-Brandeis and 'Deis for Deval his "secret weapon." As an active progressive community, DFA has grown into a strong political force both on campus and within Massachusetts. Over the last year we have canvassed throughout Waltham, collected signatures to get both candidates on the ballot, phone banked at Brandeis and at Headquarters, stuffed envelopes, attended two Deval Patrick rallies in Boston, hosted Deval Patrick on campus once and John Bonifaz on campus twice, held signs for visibility throughout Waltham and the greater Boston region, and worked at the polls on Primary day.

On Tuesday, September 19 and throughout the last year you were a part of the movement that is taking our country back as we take it forward. Thank you all for what you have done to support this vibrant community.
