Announcing 2 upcoming DFI events.

Happy New Year and Happy New Congress!


Hopefully you have recovered from the holidays by now and have begun
wondering what to do with all your free time.  J  Well, you're in
luck.   Democracy for Illinois has 2 important events coming up and we
hope you can join us.

1. DFI Conference Call

Each month Democracy for Illinois holds a conference call to discuss
upcoming events and building a state-wide organization.   Liaisons
from DFA groups around the state and members of the DFI Coordinating
Committee (webmaster, membership coordinator, etc.) are expected to
participate in the call, but it is open to all members of DFI, and we
encourage anyone interested in playing an active role in DFI to join
us.

This month's call will discuss the upcoming all-state gathering in
Peoria , the February municipal elections, and reports from various
DFA groups and leaders in Illinois.



2. DFI Meeting in Peoria

Democracy for Illinois continues to grow.   In the past year many new
people have taken an active role in DFI, and those of us who have been
around from the beginning spent most of last year focused on our local
elections.  So many of us don't really know each other.  We have
decided it is time to meet face-to-face.

So on January 20th, we are getting together in Peoria to do some
coalition building and planning for the future.  It is a "working
meeting" in which we will discuss how to address our weaknesses,
capitalize on our strengths, and work together to build a strong and
effective state-wide organization.  But it will also be a wonderful
opportunity to just get to know each other.

As with the conference calls, it is expected that DFI liaisons and
members of the coordinating Committee will attend, but this event is
open to anyone who wants to take an active part in DFI.  We really
encourage you to join us.

Suggested fee is $25 per person.*
*The $25 per person fee to attend the all-state gathering in Peoria is
payable at the event. This fee covers the cost of the room rental and
a box lunch.

We hope you can attend one or both of these events.  This year will be
crucial for us to develop a strong state coalition in preparation for
the 2008 elections.   No rest for the weary!
