A watershed campaign season is getting started and it is activists like you who can make the greatest difference in keeping Michigan blue and moving the country toward progressive policies. But are you wondering how and when to get involved? Are you having trouble finding out what's happening where? Do you need information on candidates or a way to contact their campaign?

The Progressive Connection has just published a new page of information for volunteers on Campaign 2006: the Democratic Primaries in Mid Michigan.

www.lapn.net/Primaries2006.html...

Check it out and see how quickly you can identify the races and campaigns that mean the most to you and get in touch with them.

MoveOn Adopts New Agenda

Written by: Philip Shepard on Jun 6, 2006 12:24 PM EDT

Linked to groups: MidMichigan Democracy for America

Through a national selection process with over 100,000 participants, MoveOn has adopted these three positive goals to shape its work in the coming months:
* Health care for all
* Energy independence through clean, renewable sources
* Democracy restored
The last combines "restored constitutional rights" and "verifiable, accurate elections" to break a tie for third place.

You can sign on to these goals, whether or not you are a MoveOn member, by going to this link:
political.moveon.org/makeithappe...

This month, MoveOn will launch a major campaign for a clean energy future that starts by breaking the vise-grip of big oil in Washington with an "Oil Free Congress" initiative. Expect hundreds of local events, advertising, national media attention and accountability at the ballot box.

The Yahoo list service used by Mid-Michigan Democracy for America (MidMichigan4Dean@yahoogroups.com) will be closed out at the end of this month. On behalf of the MMDfA Executive Committee, I have created a new, successor list at the Lansing Progressive Connection to which we'd like to invite you to subscribe.

Most of the active MMDfA members have already been grandfathered onto the new list and will have received a "Welcome" notice. If you received that notice you do not need to do anything to keep your subscription.

But if you haven't received a "Welcome" notice, please subscribe to the new list by emailing your request to "subscribe MMDfA" to DfA-Admin@lapn.net

We appreciate your past interest and support and hope that you will stay in touch as we enter the active campaign season. Please join us by subscribing to the new list.

Thanks for your continued interest and support.

Dear Local Activist,

On behalf of the national I-Count coalition, I have set up an appointment with Cong. Mike Rogers staff to urge Rogers to cosponsor HR 550, the leading comprehensive voting protection bill in the House. Follow this link for more details on the coalition and the bill:
www.icountcoalition.org/...
Local support for this action has come from Mid Michigan Democracy for America and the Lansing Progressive Connection.

The meeting was just now set for 1 p.m. tomorrow (Fri. 4/21) at the Lansing district office, 1327 E. Michigan Ave. I have only three participants so far, so more are certainly welcome. The meeting will take about one hour.

Please respond immediately if you would like to join the delegation that will meet tomorrow with Rogers staff on this election bill. Your participation is very welcome.

Participants are asked to sign the petition (link above) for HR 550, to conduct themselves in a professional manner during the meeting, and to meet with the coordinator (yours truly) outside Rogers office at 12:45 to go over the meeting plan.

Thanks so much for considering taking time out of a busy work day for this important intitiative in support of fair and honest elections here in the U.S.!
