Written by: Philip Shepard on Jan 5, 2006 2:21 PM EST

Sen. Barack Obama (IL) is seeking cosponsors in the Senate for S. 1975, "The Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act of 2005." The bill would create a criminal penality for decptive practices, with penalties of up to $100,000, one year imprisonment, or both, and require the attorney general, in conjunction with the federal Election Assistance Commission, to provide accurate election information when allegations of deceptive practices are confirmed.

Please call or write to Sens. Levin and Stabenow and urge them to cosponsor the bill.
