URGENT: Jerry McNerney needs your vote ***again***
Linked to groups: East Bay for Democracy
Hi EB4D'ers -A few days ago, Jerry McNerney -- running for Congress against Richard Pombo -- sent out the following message to his supporters. I hope that you can take a few minutes to read it. It contains an URGENT and IMPORTANT request.
DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ THIS BUT WANT TO HELP?
VOTE FOR JERRY HERE (DEMOCRACY FOR AMERICA):
tools.democracyforamerica.com/ho...
AND HERE (MAPCHANGERS):
www.forwardtogetherpac.com/mapch...
Less than 30 hours remain until the polls close at DFA (2 p.m. PST on Friday) for the final round of this important competition!
NOTE: You can vote AGAIN in the DFA competition (this is a DIFFERENT round).

===================================
Dear Eden,
I may be leading Richard Pombo in the polls (46 to 42 percent, according to Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research) but I'll need money - and lots of it - to send Pombo and his Big Oil buddies packing.
Democracy for America's "Grassroots All-Star" competition and Forward Together's "MapChangers" competition are both tremendous opportunities to raise the profile of our campaign nationally - and raise the funds necessary to win in November.
These competitions are VERY IMPORTANT to our campaign. I am competing with several excellent candidates but I know we can win if you take just one minute right now to cast your online votes.
Please vote right now and then tell your friends that it only takes two clicks to take back Congress!
-----
The final round of DFA's competition started Monday and -- to win -- I need you to vote AGAIN before Friday at 2 p.m.:
tools.democracyforamerica.com/ho...
NOTE: Even if you voted in a previous round, you can still vote AGAIN!
IF WE WIN: DFA will send a national fundraising e-mail to over 500,000 people that could raise tens of thousands of dollars before the all-important quarterly FEC deadline on June 30.
DEADLINE: This FRIDAY, June 23, at 2 p.m. PST (5 p.m. EST)
-----
Gov. Mark Warner's Forward Together is also conducting a national vote to determine its next "MapChanger". After you vote in the DFA competition, please vote at:
www.forwardtogetherpac.com/mapch...
IF WE WIN: Forward Together will cut a $5,000 check to our campaign and advance us to the final round. Grand prize: A major fundraiser hosted by Gov. Mark Warner.
DEADLINE: Thursday, June 29
-----
Burning up shoe leather and phone lines, you demonstrated to the pundits and power-brokers on Election Day that grassroots, on-the-ground, people-to-people politics works.
Now it's time to open your address books to bring even more people into our movement. Remember to tell your friends that we all live in Richard Pombo's district -- especially given Pombo's impact on our environment.
Please vote right now and then forward this message to your friends, family and neighbors!
Thank you for all that you are doing to help me defeat Richard Pombo.
Jerry
p.s. once you have voted in BOTH competitions, please tell all of your friends that it only takes two clicks to take back Congress!

Don't have time to read this message but know all about Jerry McNerney? Then click here to vote for JERRY MCNERNEY right now!:
tools.democracyforamerica.com/ho...
Got time? Please read on...
On Election Day, you put Jerry McNerney over the top.
Your time, your energy, and yes -- your dollars -- produced an overwhelming Democratic primary victory, building significant momentum towards defeating Richard Pombo in November and taking back Congress.
Even though Jerry's most formidable opponent spent nearly *twice as much money* in the primary, Jerry garnered nearly *twice as many votes*. This was a tremendous accomplishment for the grassroots -- for all the people who have worked so hard over the last two years to dial and door-knock Jerry's campaign to victory.
Now Jerry needs your help to put him over the top again. And all it takes is a couple of clicks.
Please take less than ONE minute of your time right now to vote for JERRY MCNERNEY in Democracy for America's "Grassroots All-Star" Congressional campaign competition.
tools.democracyforamerica.com/ho...
After you vote, please forward this message to your friends, family and neighbors!
This endorsement vote is very important to Jerry's campaign. As you know, Democracy for America (DFA) is an influential national organization committed to supporting fiscally responsible, socially progressive candidates at all levels of government and building the Democratic Party from the bottom-up.
DFA is hosting an online vote, the "Grassroots All-Star" competition, to determine which Congressional candidate will receive their next coveted "DFA-List" endorsement. That endorsement will raise the profile or Jerry's campaign nationally -- and raise the funds necessary to defeat Richard Pombo in November
Can you help Jerry become DFA's next "Grassroots All-Star"?
tools.democracyforamerica.com/ho...
As soon as you vote, please forward this message to your friends, family and neighbors!
Voting for the first round will close on FRIDAY at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (5 p.m. EST). The top *five* candidates will advance to an instant run-off round starting on June 19 to determine DFA's next DFA-List candidate.
According to DFA's Field Director, right now Jerry is in 6th place -- just 50 votes behind!
Your vote counts! It only takes a couple of clicks to show DFA and Democrats from coast to coast that our campaign is fueled by the most incredible renewable energy resource around -- you!
tools.democracyforamerica.com/ho...
Once your vote is counted, please forward this message to your friends, family and neighbors!
There are 33 other excellent candidates who want this coveted endorsement. All of the candidates in the competition are running for either a Republican-held seat or an open seat. Here are the results for the top 10 candidates so far, as of 11 a.m. PST today:
1. Nancy Skinner (MI-9)
2. Patrick Murphy (PA-8)
3. Lois Herr (PA-16)
4. Charles Brown (CA-4)
5. Stephanie Studebaker (OH-3)

***6. Jerry McNerney (CA-11)***
7. Dave Loebsack (IA-2)
8. Phil Avillo (PA-19)
9. Coleen Rowley (MN-2)

Can't stand JOE LIEBERMAN? On Wednesday, meet his worst nightmare.

"The reason I went and sat at his table is I personally think Ned is a terrific candidate and I want to support him," said Mr. Dean, one of 1,700 guests at the political event. "I think not only is it a good race for the voters because he's bringing the war back, I think his campaign will benefit candidates up and down the Democratic ticket."Jim Dean (Democracy for America) in the New York Times

Hi -
The Oakland DFA Meetup is supporting (not organizing) the promotion of a special event on Wednesday night that was just announced.
If you read the blogs, you know about Ned Lamont and his courageous campaign to defeat Joe Lieberman in the Connecticut primary. Thing is, Ned actually has a shot because the grassroots and the netroots are behind him, in Connecticut and across the country -- including many DFA groups. And Lieberman is running scared (he even threatened to run as an independent as a counter-tactic).
Come to Oakland on Wednesday night and meet the man who could change the party by throwing down the gauntlet on blue-state Democrats-In-Name-Only who sell out progressive values.
Please forward this to everyone you know who cares about taking back the Democratic Party. And changing our country.
More info on the event below...

Meet Ned Lamont!
www.nedlamont.com
Want to meet the Progressive U.S. Senate Candidate that is seriously challenging Bush Administration Supporter Joe Lieberman? Want to send a serious message to those who support the Bush Agenda?
When: Tomorrow - Wednesday April 19th 8:00pm
Where: Uptown Club, Downtown Oakland (On Telegraph Between 20th & 19th)
$25 per person (or whatever you can contribute) to help send Sen. Joe Lieberman into early retirement!!!
Why is Ned Lamont running against Joe?
I am running for the US Senate because we deserve a Senator who will stand up for Connecticut and stand up for our progressive democratic values. Rather than spending hundreds of millions of dollars a day in Iraq, it is time for America to refocus on issues back home: fixing our healthcare system, upgrading our schools, and rebuilding our aging infrastructure. We will start winning in Iraq as the Iraqis take control of their own destiny, just as America has to start investing again in our own future.
I would have led the opposition to Judge Samuel Alito's nomination to the Supreme Court, which may soon be considering the South Dakota law which outlaws a woman's right to choose even in the case of rape and incest. I will push for energy conservation and efficiency standards as the best means to energy independence and a cleaner environment.
In other words, I am running to be your Democratic Senator.
Care about censuring Bush? Or who will be Mayor of Oakland?
Linked to groups: Oakland DFA Meetup
Hi,Hope you are doing well as we approach tonight's April Oakland DFA Meetup -- only two months until Election Day!
If you care about holding George W. Bush accountable via censure or impeachment, if you care who is elected Mayor of Oakland, or if you care about the future of the Oakland City Council, this Wednesday's Meetup is one you don't want to miss.
It would be difficult to top March's Meetup when 81 progressives got pumped to dump Richard Pombo in the 11th District and we wrote 72 letters to ask Senator Perata to support Clean Money legislation. But April could be even better:
=====
OAKLAND "DEMOCRACY FOR AMERICA" MEETUP
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 5
Rockridge Library, 5366 College Ave
6:30 pm: Dinner & the Daily Show!
7 pm: DFA Meetup
9ish: Drinking Liberally at the Conga Lounge
=====
Please RSVP now at:
www.dfalink.com/event.php?id=572...
=====
* PETER KEANE, UC Hastings Professor of Law and KRON-TV Legal Analyst
* ANDRE SPEARMAN, Campaign Manager representing Oakland mayoral candidate Ron Dellums
* NANCY NADEL, Oakland City Councilwoman and mayoral candidate
* AIMEE ALLISON, candidate for Oakland District 2 City Council (and landslide winner of last year's DFA Meetup Distict 2 straw poll)
* UPDATES on the status of California Clean Money legislation, Jerry McNerney's congressional campaign to defeat Richard Pombo, Debra Bowen's campaign to bring election integrity to Sacramento, and more...
With such an excellent agenda, this will no doubt be one of our best Oakland DFA Meetups ever. So we can prepare (pizza, copies, chairs), please RSVP now at:
www.dfalink.com/event.php?id=572...
As if that wasn't enough, there's also "Dinner and the Daily Show" pre-meetup entertainment from 6:30-7, our traditional free raffle, and "Drinking Liberally" at the Conga Lounge after the Meetup (see more about Drinking Liberally at the bottom of this message)!
Here's a brief overview of the speakers and what they'll talk about at Wednesday's meetup:
Prof. Keane, a highly-respected professor and legal analyst on Ch. 4, will discuss the current legal landscape as it relates to the Bush Administration's warrantless wiretapping and other potential grounds for censure or impeachment. Andre Spearman (representing Ron Dellums) and Nancy Nadel will discuss why it is important to support their respective candidacies to become Mayor of Oakland. And Aimee Allison will talk about her campaign to bring a more progressive vision to the City Council, representing District 2.
The larger a meetup is (dozens have signed up already), the more work we need to do to prepare. Can you help us by RSVP'ing now at:

If you've never attended a DL, check out what it's all about:
Drinking Liberally Oakland provides a open forum all of us to discuss the news, issues, concerns of the day, both in person an on the internet. While most participants are expectedly progressives or moderates, all points of view are welcome. Drinking Liberally currently meets twice a month at the The Conga Lounge at 5422 College Avenue.
