September 11 Link Up

This month's meeting falls on the anniversary of the tragedy of the attack on the Twin Towers and the Pantagon. Lawrence Wright in The Looming Tower documents the incompetence of members of the Bush administration that led to that tragedy.

This is the beginning of the midterm election countdown. We hope that activists will come to our meeting to prepare to elect a new Congress. It can be done, but it is not a "slam dunk" (to use the phrase of George Tenet, head of the CIA when 9/11 occurred, in talking about evidence for going to was in Iraq). Our candidates need volunteers to do a variety of jobs, from canvassing door to door, to making phone calls, to distributing literature at train stations, to holding coffees and fund raisers.

We will offer a variety of suggestions and opportunities. Being active in a campaign to change the direction our
country has been going in is an enormously satisfying experience; you can feel that your efforts can make a difference that matters.

Come to our DFA-Evanston/North Shore link up on Monday, Sept.11, 7 pm at the Celtic Knot, 626 Church Street, Evanston (across from Evanston Library). Voting is not enough!
