AFSCME endorses Greg Brewer!

AFSCME COUNCIL 31 BACKS BREWER
Another Union Endorses 50th Ward Challenger

West Rogers Park – The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 31 endorsed 50th Ward candidate Greg Brewer Thursday in his fight to unseat 34-year incumbent Ald. Bernie Stone.

Brewer and other candidates met with AFSCME officials earlier this week.  Brewer stood out from the pack in the 50th Ward because of his commitment to Chicago’s working families and his plan to win.  The Council 31 endorsement follows heavy support given last week by the Chicago Federation of Labor.

“We’re thrilled and honored to have AFSCME Council 31 join our coalition,” Brewer said.  “This is another part of the team we’re building for change, inclusiveness and accountability in the 50th Ward.   Our big tent coalition grows every day.”

Brewer is an architect, planner and project manager with 20 years of worldwide experience.  Other Brewer endorsers include Edgewater-Rogers Park Democracy for America, Loop Supporters Democracy for America, the Chicago Federation of Labor and numerous community leaders and residents.

AFSCME Council 31 represents more than 75,000 working men and women around the state.

“Like the CFL, AFSCME knows that Bernie Stone is no friend of working families, and he’s no friend of the 50th Ward,” Brewer said.  “The big businesses and connected insiders all have someone working for them.  That’s not me.  I’m fighting for the residents of the 50th Ward, and I will make sure they have a voice in the future of their neighborhoods.”
