Dave Patlak (County Commission Dist. 5) Endorsed by the Miami Herald
Commission Chair Bruno Barreiro, who has been on the commission since 1998, faces a worthy challenger in David Patlak, a community activist and retired chief warrant officer with the U.S. Coast Guard. Mr. Patlak, 53, has twice sought elective office in bids to win a seat in Congress, losing both times. This time, he has set his sights on a more-attainable position. Voters should give him a chance. Read the full endorsement.

Thisis great!
“I don’t know if you know this. John McCain is looking for someone for vice president who has more economic expertise than he does. So congratulations to all of you, you’re on the short list.”
–John Kerry
Your group is doing awesome work. There is a synergy going in your group to have volunteers meeting in the same parking lot for more than one state house candidate. I'm jealous. Our competitive State Senate race has a District 70 miles across. From now til election there can't be too many volunteers doing canvassing work means going over and over the same neighborhoods, since it is hard to find people at home, but that face to face at their door is how elections are won.Volunteers are golden, treat them right.
- David, I'm glad you were able to fix the formatting on your post.
By Susan Rowe on Aug 6, 2008 5:16 PM EDTIt was nice meeting you yesterday evening at the bfa. Wonderful candidates. Local and state races are very important.

- Great Job DFAM
By Charles Chamberlain on Aug 6, 2008 12:20 PM EDTGreat Job DFAM. I notice that not all of those candidates have applied for a DFA endorsement yet. I hope they each apply. Then DFAM members can voice support for them on their candidate pages. Even if DFAM is no longer endorsing candidates, DFA still can.
Either way, great work. With DFA endorsed candidates Joe Garcia and Annette Taddeo fighting for Congress. This post is an important reminder that every race matters. We need more and better democrats in Tallahassee too. In 2010 redistricting is at stake.
