For those living in NJ's 3rd Congressional District it is important to note that our representative, Mr. Saxton, let the poor kids of New Jersey down again. He cast his vote with the Nays in yesterday's vote on extending Healthcare for children through SCHIP which provides health insurance for lower income children. Fortunately, enough Republicans joined their Democratic counterparts in passing the bill in the House. It is not veto-proof and the president said he will veto it. Please call Rep. Saxton and give him "what for". It is disgraceful for him to neglect children.

It was standing room only at the Standup Town Hall Meeting in Jackson, NJ. The event was sponsored by several groups including VoteVets.org, Coalition for Peace Action, Moveon.org, NJ Citizen Action and Labor Against War. Events were staged nation-wide and several were held in New Jersey. Representatives from the organizations gave presentations on why the United States needs to change course NOW and why our representatives in Congress need to support our troops by bringing them home. The representative from the 4th CD-NJ, Chris Smith, was invited, but as usual was among the missing, probably at home in Virginia. The time has come when the voice of the people must be heard.

What wonderful news! First ROVE goes and then GONZALES. Rats leaving the sinking ship. Contact your representatives and make sure that the replacements have some sort of character and are not just a bunch of political hacks. Our country deserves better. Get involved in Democratic campaigns.

Several members of JERSEYSHORE DFA and their guests attended the premier showing of Michael Moore's outstanding movie, Sicko, at Loew's in Brick, NJ on June 29th. The documentary explores the differences between the health care in the United States and other leading nations, or the lack of health care for the average person without health insurance. Many of the flaws in our system are well documented by Mr. Moore who cleverly juxtaposed the winners of our system, the health insurance giants and drug manufacturers, with the victims who lost health, lives and homes due to the failings of our health systems. It is imperative that our government change course and get back on track. Universal health care is a must for every American, and more importantly, it is a right. Michael Moore is to be commended for his insightful documentation of the overwhelming complexities which occur when corporate greed replaces compassionate caring of the sick. This movie deserves four stars.

OK, so we didn't win all of the races that we worked on. Some Democrats were elected to local council seats in a couple of towns and Senator Menendez beat the tar out of you know who. We had excellent candidates for Congress in the 3rd and 4th CDs but we were woefully underfunded. Rich Sexton caused rubber-stamp Saxton to spend more than he anticipated and Carol Gay caused much consternation in the Smith camp. It's disappointing to work for such worthy candidates as Rich and Carol and not see them elected, but I'm convinced that we have to educate the voters in Ocean County so it's back to the drawing board. Let's hope that Rich and Carol will consider running again. They have our votes and our hearts. Thanks so much for working so hard. HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN! GO DEMOCRATS!Linked to groups: Jersey Shore DFA
