GLOBAL WARMING MARCH TO MARCH'S POINT, 4/14 2 pm

Written by: Patti Santangelo on Apr 10, 2007 5:53 AM EDT

GLOBAL WARMING MARCH TO MARCH'S POINT Saturday, April 14, 2 PM   This action is sponsored by Beat the Heat, and will coincide with over 1000 similar actions planned around the country for April 14.  Anacortes will join hundreds of other communities in all 50 states to demand Congress act NOW to cut carbon emissions 90% by 2050.   We'll walk behind a banner across the Tommy Thompson Trail and stop for a picture midway (over the water to remind us of rising sea levels, toward the refineries to remind us of the deadly cost of fossil fuels, and toward Mt. Baker to remind us of receding glaciers).  Our photo will join a thousand others to be delivered to Congress.   We'll meet at the entrance to the trail on 30th street, just east of T Ave.  There is a small parking lot there, and parking is also available along T Ave.  Please walk, bike or carpool to the site.   Be creative!  Carry stuffed polar bears, bring signs, earth flags, costumes, symbols of renewable energy (i.e. pinwheels & windchimes for wind power), family and friends.  We would like this to be a fun, positive event and will have information to hand out to those who want to know how to help cool the planet's fever.   Please pass the above info on to anyone who may be interested in joining with us on the 14th.  Thank you for your help!   Evelyn Adams for Beat the Heat
