Joe Camel supports Steve Buyer (R-4th)

'm tired of waiting for wimpy Democrats to attack the Republicans for their ties to the tobacco industry. Steve Buyer is your state's biggest recipient of tobacco money, and it's about time Hoosiers hold him accountable for this. I've sent similar letters to Utah newspapers about Senator Orrin Hatch, the Mormon Senator of the Mormon state who accepts tobacco money. (For those of you who don't know, using tobacco is against the Mormon religion.)

If we can establish the Republican Party as the Tobacco Party, they'll lose credibility on MANY, MANY issues, especially "moral values".

I've sent letters to the editor to the following newspapers:

Times-Mail

Daily Journal, Johnson County

The letter:
Congressman Steve Buyer would like to thank you for smoking, chewing, and dipping nicotine. According to the Tobacco-Free Kids Action Fund, Steve Buyer is the biggest tobacco money addict of the Indiana Congressional delegation. Buyer has received $65,000 in campaign contributions from the tobacco industry since 1997 and $8500 so far in the 2006 election cycle. If accepting the biggest kickbacks from tobacco companies is one of Buyer's moral values, then I'd hate to see what his immoral values are.
